Bottle. Pours a dark amber color with a small off-white head. Has a roasted malty caramel aroma. Sweet malty caramel flavor with some fruity hints. Sweet malty slightly roasted caramel finish with a slightly bitter aftertaste.

Bottle 500ml. Pours a rich chestnut colour with a medium beige head. Aroma of dark fruits, but I can’t say that I picked up the “blackcurrant overtones” noted on the label. Tastes of good dark malts, a hint of something nutty, some fruitiness and a fine hoppiness. A decent pint.

500ml bottle from Sainsbury. Poured a deep brown chestnut colour with thick lwhite head. The beer had a malty hop aroma, nice hoppy taste in the taste. A very good beer to me,wish i had some more.

Bottle, from Sainsburys. Deep chestnut brown, good lasting off white head and moderate condition. Pleasant sweet chocolatey nose with hints of fruit and some peppery spiciness. Quite muted in the mouth with a gentle roasted bitterness initially dominant but some low sweetness emerging as it warms. Bitterness is again dominant but muted in the finish, although a hint of fruity berries is apparent towards the end.

Good cream-coloured, fluffy head, pretty persistent over dark chestnut-coloured beer. Strange woodstainer aroma, fleetingly, then more wood and coffee. Finally dry hops and faint cardemom. All in all a pretty complex and layered nose. Hops, my good Doctor, hops! Noble English ones caress the yearning WoostePattyn palate, as well as some dark malts, just enough to sustain. Faint black cardemom remains, but the beer is too weak - I was going to say "too British" - to have an as complex layered taste as its nose. Still pretty good! Light bodied, but nowhere empty. Harviestoun, undeniably amongst the best on the isles. Póg mo thóin, it has balls - Jezza, you knew!
