NOT AVAILABLE IN THE USA. The Hatuey brand originated in Cuba and was owned by the Bacardi family. When the Communists nationalized the brewery, the brand essentially split. While the Bacardis own the brand for the global market and produce it under contract, the Cuban government still operates a brewery in Santiago to produce this as a local (peso) beer for the Oriente. Hatuey found in the United States is this beer: http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/hatuey-lager-beer-usa/9403/

Dull dark gold colour. Rather rank aroma, like rotting this and that. Pretty terrible. Flat, lifeless cardboard with hints of garbage. Definitely subpar but at 10-15 MN it’s amongst the cheapest beers I’ve had. Zhigulevskoe del sur! (Couldn’t find it in Santiago, but any peso joint in Bayamo will do the trick).

I had this beer many years ago at one time when I was only giving ratings to the beers but was too lazy and stupid to write down my thoughts. I will update this as soon as I get my hands on this beer again.

(Bottle) Shared at the PNW Christmas 2006 party at Oakes on December 9th. Nice appearance. Hoppy banana/cantaloupe. A very tinny tonic.

Light amber color. Crappy crab apples, adjunct hell nose. Sour, crab apples, dirty mouth. Hell, fuck, shit. WOW, I am surprised, I am fairly generous.

canette, bière blonde commerciale sans intérêt aucun, vraiment sans intéret comme la pluspart des bières provenant de pays chauds.

I was in Santiago de Cuba years ago and at the time drank this beer. It was from dollar shops but still cheap for foreigners. A fairly standard easy drinking lager. Nothing special but a nice beer on a hot day. It didn’t leave much of an impression on me beyond a cool label and the story of Hatuey a rebel indian in Cuba I believe...

Not a very good beer. Bought a 6 pack on Paradise Island in the Bahamas and after drinking one, 5 stayed in the mini fridge until the day before I left. Awful metallic and sweet taste with a nasty artificial caramel flavor. Was too sweet and too heavy. Mild carbonation. I chose the flavorless Sands and Kalik over this all week.

Amber with a light head and spotty lacing. A beautiful smell of rank pain. Flavor is pure communism. Evil and lifeless.

This commy offering deserves little speak. Sour in all regards with a tough smelly odor. Ouch, my mouth needs cleaning.

Bottle (in Santiago de Cuba). Pours a dark golden color with a small white head. Taste is of malt, hops and with a very distinct corn flavour. Crisp but a bit sour and a really weird skunky taste. Not completely terrible, but nothing I’d ever want to have again.
