COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Editor’s note: The Hatuey brand was owned by the Bacardi family. When the Communists nationalized the brewery, the rights to the brand essentially split - Cuban rights to the Cuban government, global rights to the Bacardis. They now produce the beer, to entirely different specs than the Cuban version, in South Carolina. This is the version available in the US.

Bottle... Clear, light yellow lager with a small, creamy, white head. Lemony, cookie, white pepper nose. Medicinal, corn-sweet flavor. Lightly acidic. Hardly any bitterness. Corn based ethanol, basically. Light to medium-bodied with lively carbonation. Sweet, watery finish.

Well, knock another country off the list of ones from which I’ve had a beer. Other than that, not much to be said about this one. Poured to a yellow body with thin white head that disspated quickly to no lacing. Couldn’t tell much on the aroma, and the flavor was similar to that of a cheaper European lager, or most of those from Central America....grainy with a short, dry aftertaste. Not much here, but not the worst I’ve ever had either.

I remember having this at a bar where you had to drink every beer to get your name on the wall. I just had it out of the bottle, but it was barley drinkable. Flavors of old garbage dried to a chalky vegetale finish. Evil Empire indeed.

Not terrible, abit of grassiness, some bitterness on the aftertaste, nothing good, but quite drinkable, wish it was hot today when I drank it! oh well!

Pale yellow colour, green bottle. Came with a lime so the odor is overwhelmed. No real taste, but I quite like the palate.

Delirium (636) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - SEP 12, 2006
UPDATED: NOV 10, 2006 Bottle. Pours light yellow with moderate fizzy white head. Aroma is a typical pale lager, perhaps a bit sweeter and maltier than usual. Flavor is the same, with a hint of spiciness. Moderately carbonated. Decent for a pale lager, and better than I was expecting.

I tried this beer at a cuban resturant. It had a nice taste of hops but nothing special. Almost no head. ok for cuban food.

unclemattie (3735) - Georgia, USA - AUG 30, 2006
UPDATED: SEP 6, 2006 I picked up a six pk at Harry’s, Marietta with Breesia Anaca. Very light in color. Clear yellow crispness. Very fizzy white head that thins out quickly. Strong hop aroma at first. Smells like a rotten beach. Strange and plain. It is pretty much what I expected. Finish of watered down cereal malt. Like a India Malta,,,

Sampled at Broudy’s Beerfest, Jacksonville FL, 3 June 2006. Another low spot for the day. Pale and watery and poor flavor of cereal malt.
