   AROMA 7/10   APPEARANCE 3/5   TASTE 6/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 13/20
ElDesmadre (1549) - Mikołów, POLAND - JUN 9, 2014
Bottle. Initially the aroma bears resemblance to a baltic porter. Dark fruit (prunes), vinous notes, only then there is some chocolate, walnuts and roast. The sweet taste somehow is remarkably less (dark) fruity, it is more or less all about the roast, chocolate, walnuts and licorice. Medium body, light bitterness and a pleasant coffee note in the warming finish. The biggest issue here are traces of solvent. Some additional lagering could help perhaps, but since the BBE date was nigh, I did not take the risk.

Appearance: pitch black, with small / medium sized beige head leaving nice lacing on the glass
Aroma: roastiness, chocolate, black coffee, plum - kinda like a baltic porter.
Taste: warming alcohol, chocolate, coffee. Nice, medium to high bitterness.
Mouthfeel: full bodied, rather low carbonation
Overall: I bought this "by accident", but I’m glad I did. It’s a very nice, well brewed Imperial Stout. Would be better with american hops though.

black, hazy, medium off-white foam; little roasty, coffee and chocolate, nuts; medium sweetness, medium minus bitterness, quite dry; medium plus body, rather slick feel, little alcoholic, average minus carbonation, long dry finish; Overall: very good RIS

Bottle. Black with no head. Aroma: Coffee, chocolate, caramel, smoked plum and alcohol. Taste: dry, bitter aftertaste (mostly from roasted malt and alcohol). Flavour of chocolate with warming alcohol. Palate: Nice full body with almost no carbonation makes it quite creamy, but alcohol is a bit too strong. Nice beer, but alcohol is too strong. Second bottle stored for aging, i think it has some potential.

Very nice RIS from Polish Haust brewery. I could compare it for recently released Samiec Alfa from Artezan. Aroma: nuts, chocolate, some coffee. Taste, quite sweet, smootch, again nuts, chocolate, a little bit coffee. Very noce first RIS form Haust!

Ciemne, prawie czarne piwo z niezbyt obfitą i niezbyt trwałą pianą.
