Rich deep brown coloured body with some cola coloured glows at the bottom and a nice, single one centimetre tall lighter brown, very soapy head. Aroma of pale malt, a touch of prunes and raisins and a decent amount of earth - not too much exciting going on there. Medium-bodied; Strong nutty flavour of cashews, walnuts, pecans and peanuts with a little caramel and raisin sweetness, a touch of earth and a little bitterness at the end. Aftertaste shows a light earthiness, but a bunch of pit fruit and raisin sweetness with a little metallic twang at the end. Overall, a nice beer with a strong flavour of earth and pitted fruits, but nothing harsh or unusual and a good taste from a local brewery that isn’t easy to find on the mainland, if at all! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from the Liqour Collection in Honolulu, Hawaii (Oahu) on 10-December-2012 for US$2.25 sampled back home on the mainland in Washington on the other end of this great country on 30-August-2013.
