Clear brown color with lasting tan head. Nice nutty, chocolate, caramel aromas. Light to medium body. Nutty, milk chocolate, caramel flavors with light roast coffee-a bit thin--not bad.

Bottle shared by Allen, thanks! Pours a clear dark brown with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a lot of musty dark grain with some bread and a hint of sweetness. Flavor has a good amount of earthy grain with some bread and a hint of caramel.

A surprisingly rich brown ale, malty and nutty without being too sweet. Our go-to bottle of choice while on Kauai.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of malts, something sour, tropical fruits. Flavor is of roasted malts, toffee, and is very smooth. Better than I was expecting.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JUL 21, 2012 Location: Draft at the Yard House - Honolulu, 7/5/12
Aroma: The aroma is roasted/burnt malts, along with some toffee and caramel
Appearance: Pours a dark amber brown color with a beige head and heavy lacing on the glass
Flavor: The taste is heavy malty, but not heavy sweet, roasty and a hint burnt, lightly dry finish
Palate: The body is medium, with good drinkability, a smooth feel, and soft-average carbonation
I liked this one. It turned out to be a more then solid example of the style. I haven’t been overly impressed with the (non Maui Brewing) local Hawaiian beers, so I wasn’t expecting much, but it exceeded expectations.

~Pours clear brown with orange tints. Big lasting creamy off white head.
~Light roasty, nutty malt aroma with caramel and citrus.
~Malty biscuity flavor, light roast, with citrusy hops.
~med body, med co2, lasting bitter finish.
~Dont care too much for choice of hops on this one. I wish the malts came through more. A bit bitter.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Shaker pint draft at Leilanas on Kaanapli Beach on Maui. The pour is a lightly hazed brown copped with a small light tan head. The aroma is soft nut sweet, earth, and nutty malt. As it warmed, some roast came out as well. The taste is dry, almost dusty, softly sweet nut. The sweet integrates with toast malt and the nuttiness, and really fades out to focus on the earthy malt, with slight roastiness. The palate is medium bodied, though highly drinkable due to its bright carbonation. I really enjoyed the character of this beer, fresh and clean, on of the best browns I have had in awhile.

I had this on tap at the Hula Grille in Ka’anapali, Maui, Hawaii. It’s a nice roasty brown ale.
