Bottle. Enjoyed this in Maui in April 2013. A cloudy amber color with a white head. A malty aroma with a Belgian yeasty spice. A semi-fruity flavor and finish. An interesting cross-section of styles.

Bottle from The Liquor Collection, Honolulu, HI
Hazy amber color, with medium sized compact head. Nice aroma, there is a delicate fruity touch from the fermentation, and mild soil from the yeast too. Good body structure; the mouthfeel is well round; dominant flavor of sweet light colored caramel, some malt, light fruitiness and a shade of sweet liquorice; the bitterness is relatively low and the alcohol content is well managed.
An American interpretation of Belgian beers, with less yeast character, but quite good.

Bottle shared by Allen, thanks! Pours a near clear deep amber with a tab head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has light grassy hops and earthy grains. Flavor has a nice light grassy and citrus hop with backing sweet grains.

22 oz from liquor collection in ward center, Honolulu. Was told its the only Belgian style beer being made in Hawaii right now. Nice beer. Never had a Belgian style double red ale, as it’s called. A bit of a smokey taste.

Dogbrick (6058) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - DEC 7, 2010
UPDATED: DEC 12, 2010 Sample at the Mehana Taproom in Hilo. The beer is a dark reddish-amber color with a medium light tan head that diminishes steadily. Rings of lacing. Aroma of hops and toasted malt. Medium body with a resiny hops character and flavors of roasted malt and caramel. The finish is hoppy with a piney aftertaste. Above average overall.
