Most anything from Hawks Brewery is going to be good. This is one of the best. Goes down very smooth and has an earthy taste but in a good way. try this beer if you get a chance

Bottle. Pours very black and thick. I couldn’t even see through it when I held it up close to a light. Virtually no head, just a thin ring of sud. The aroma is chocolate, caramel. The flavor is the same as the nose only with alchohol noticable right off the bat. Lots of roasties, definate chocolate. Flavor is highly enjoyable. The mouthfeel is even better. Despite the achohol up front, the finish is very smooth and creamy, followed with more cream. Leaves silk on the tongue. Oh how I love brews like this! At $3.50 a bottle, I will be having this again, thanks to Hawks.

This stuff was just really great. A beautiful sweet stout, and I do mean sweet. Pours murky and dark, with some really dare I say again sweet malts, with a just a little bit of a sweet hop bite in the aftertaste. Completely unbalanced, but in a good way. Very smooth and cream, with lots of chocolate coffee goodness, slightly syrupy and oily and becomes even better when warmed up.

Thanks to my mn Jeff F. for a taste of this cellared beauty!--Poured a deep opaque black body with a wonderfully fluffy creamy off-white head. Nose of bold coffee, chocolate, and roasted malts. Rich, warm mouth feel with well-maintained carbonation. Vibrant earthy coffee flavor. Creamy, like chocolate milk and espresso. Amazing beer! Love it!

Love this sweet stout! Pours with a thick head, opaque, aroma of sweet carmelly malts. The flavor was fantastic, but aside from that chocolate with some coffee and sweet. Creamy mouthfeel. Finish is sweet with slight tartness. My new favorite sweet stout!

(750ml bottle) Sampled at Goldorak’s Sunday MTL Gathering. Strong ABV nose, coffee, oatmeal and cream. Very thin, yellow-brown head with an opaque coffee, bitter chocolate, black licorice, iodine, sour milk. Delicious!

Deep black, opaque, with a medium-sized off-white head. The aroma had some sweet cherries, licorice, wood, chocolate, and coffee. The flavor was full of very sweet coffee, vanilla, roasty/toasty malt, and milk chocolate. The feel was a little on the thin side, but very smooth, creamy, and soft. Very nice sweet stout. Thanks for the opportunity Portlandrunk.

Dark black color. Small white foamy head. Aroma is chocolate and dark fruit. A full-bodied Oatmeal stout. Malts are choclately and sweet. Hops are slightly spicy. A nicely balanced stout. Smooth and creamy. Nice undertones of dark fruits and coffee. A touch of caramelized sugar in the finish. A very nice, smooth oatmeal stout. This would be a great starter stout. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Dark brown. Sweet scotch with vanilla and wood. Calling this a mini-imperial would be accurate. Mouthfeel is thick, very smoky and sweet flavor of scotch, fruit, wood and a sharp licorice/motor oil kick at the end. Very nice... not really anything to say bad about this one.

After a rather hectic family Thanksgiving..I am looking forward to this beer I purchased a few days ago. Comes in a 22 oz brown glass bomber..simple screen printed bottle label. Wow this is a marvelous looking beer poured into my pint mug..black..solid black even held to the light no other colours appear..small tan head..lingers a while. Nice smell of roasted malts and oats..very fresh. mmm nice tasting beer..sweet smooth buttery maltiness at first..then an actual taste of oatmeal, after that a bitter bite..a while after the swallow a nice belly warming occcurs. Very good feel on the palate..smooth as a babys butt. A very nice warming stout..bordering on Imperial IMO..good drink.
