UPDATED: SEP 16, 2011 Cask conditioned - handpump - Coach & Horses, Wellingborough A black beer with an off white head. The aroma has good hops which seem to be US (the commercial description proves that) Soap also in the nose. The taste has more good hops as well as chocolate. A little sourness. Very tasty and interesting. Score 3.7 Subsequent rating scored 3.8. Score unchanged

One of the bottles Traci brought back for me from her trip to the Lakes District. Deep brown, modest layer of gray-tan head. Raw green chocolate aroma, green plums, a touch of brine. Brine more forward in the flavor, along with a pleasant smokey/fish quality. Clean charcoal roast, grapeskin chalky finish. Dry parmesan exhale. Good depth, maybe a little light in body, but sound overall.

Cask @ Bon Accord. Dark brown colour, small off-white head. Aroma has roasted malts, nuts and caramel. Flavour of roasted malts, slight touch of fruity hops and chocolate. Medium bodied. Decent stout.

Bright bottled at Thanet Easter Beer Fest. The Winter Gardens, Margate. I quite like that bitter/premium bitter is such an encompassing "style" - however when it gets to this very stout like point I think we have to accept that it is not simply a dark and stout like bitter, but that it’s a stout - or, failing that, it’s an old ale. This is more unusual than normal in that it also has the cascades on top. Some vanilla notes are also interesting. A bit of a mongrel maybe, but more than acceptably tasty and working very well. Nice one!

Bottle thanks to ronnie.
Aroma is rich spicey malts, peppery and slightly roasty, brown sugar and cinnamon. Taste is a similar bag of tricks however its thinner than expected and dry. I was slightly disapointed here as had loads of potential.

500ml bottle from Booths. Very unusual beer. Very deep brown colour with lasting beige head. Little bit of rubber, but its pretty good. Decent hop and some intense malt. Choccy and some bits are tarry and spicey. What a bizarre beer, almost tastes like a weak imperial stout. Bizarre, but good. Spicey hop on finish.
