Golden Ale. Hoppy and uncompromisingly bitter with complex fruit flavours from the blending of a modern English hop, First Gold, with the outrageously fruity American hop, Cascade. A hopheads’ beer... with balance. A real beer drinkers beer.

Bottle from Co-Op. Light amber, light carbonation, no head. Stone fruit, a bit of caramel, then a moderate lingering bitterness. Very sessionable!

Bottle at Christmastime 2013. Orangey and well carbonated appearance, with not much of an aroma to speak of - suggestive of a light bottled ale with little taste. Looks can be deceiving. Sweet initial taste gives way immediately to a wonderful blend of hops that manage a balance of tastes between American and British without succumbing to a pastiche of either. Fantastic bitter palate. A great weeknight mood lifter.

(Bottle): Pours a clear amber with a small white head. Hoppy, floral, citrus, zest in the aroma. Fantastic hoppy bite accompanied by notes of lemon, oranges, grapefruit, caramel and some peppery notes too. Really well balanced, very drinkable and some really lovely flavours. Blown my expectations right out of the water.

Bursts onto the tongue with sharp zesty bitterness. Orange and passion fruit flavours, long dry finish, with extra bitter notes on the back of the throat. Cracking bottled beer.

Bottle. Amber with white head. Hoppy floral and grapefruit aroma. Taste has more of the same with caramel and a biscuity finish. decent body for it’s abv and a bitter finish. Enjoying this .

500ml bottle - a rusty brown body, thin white head, bit of a citric hoppy nose. First taste is strong citrus, bitter after taste, but with notes of caramel and dried fruits. Not bad, I remember this being better in the Lakes on cask, but not bad nonetheless.

Golden brown pour with small head out of a 500ml bottle, full of flavour, hops, toffee and a touch of fruit. Really good carbonation as well gives it a nice feel on the palate. Very good ale.

Bottle from Ambleside Wines. Looks good - clear auburn with a sizeable head. Smells like ale should smell - hops, treacle, currants. Bitter hops with a finish that lingers for a fair while afterwards, yet avoids being too dry. Very well balanced with some bittersweet notes, perhaps some grapefruit hidden in there somewhere. Active mouthfeel - just the right amount of carbonation on the tongue. Excellent ale.
