Golden Ale. Hoppy and uncompromisingly bitter with complex fruit flavours from the blending of a modern English hop, First Gold, with the outrageously fruity American hop, Cascade. A hopheads’ beer... with balance. A real beer drinkers beer.

Cask (King’s Arms, Hawkshead): Golden to deep golden, smaller fluffy head; moderate clean fruity and malty nose; moderate to solid bitter-sweet flavour, light to medium bodied; dry lingering hoppy and fruity finish. Very good....

On handpull at the brewery’s Beer Hall, pours a dark gold with fruit on the nose. A good biscuity malt on the palate with bittering in the swallow.

Bottle Traci brought back for me from her trip to Cumbria. Thanks baby! Warm copper pour, shiny buttercream colored head with good lace. Very pretty floral hops with a fresh citrus edge, just a hint of vanilla caramel below. Brisk grapefruit hop bitterness with a solid malt backbone. Light palate with just enough weight to be satisfying. Clean, bright and refreshing. In a blind tasting I’m not sure I could tell this from SNPA, and in my book that is high praise!

Bottle from booths, keswick. Aroma is grassy, citrus, really hoppy with a honey pale malt backing. Taste is a similarly very drinkable beast.

If you are into funny labels etc. then you never would buy a beer from this brewer. But luckily I did anyhow, because they make great beer. It’s a dark golden beer with a nice head and a floral, fruity aroma, that is very nice. The flavour matches the aroma and has some notes of roasted malt too and a really nice bitterness.

Bottled, pasteurised, 500ml. Gold colour with big white head, some carbonation. Nicely pleasant golden beer, fully flavoured with a touch of peach, rich malt and a dry fragrant hop. A very pleasant bottled English beer, bought in Booths, Ulverston.
