4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Doppelganger (1385) - Dry County, Arkansas, USA - JUN 30, 2008
Bottle Traci brought back for me from her trip to Cumbria. Thanks baby! Warm copper pour, shiny buttercream colored head with good lace. Very pretty floral hops with a fresh citrus edge, just a hint of vanilla caramel below. Brisk grapefruit hop bitterness with a solid malt backbone. Light palate with just enough weight to be satisfying. Clean, bright and refreshing. In a blind tasting I’m not sure I could tell this from SNPA, and in my book that is high praise!

Bottle from Ambleside Wines. Looks good - clear auburn with a sizeable head. Smells like ale should smell - hops, treacle, currants. Bitter hops with a finish that lingers for a fair while afterwards, yet avoids being too dry. Very well balanced with some bittersweet notes, perhaps some grapefruit hidden in there somewhere. Active mouthfeel - just the right amount of carbonation on the tongue. Excellent ale.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Maria (9570) - Thisted, DENMARK - DEC 13, 2007
If you are into funny labels etc. then you never would buy a beer from this brewer. But luckily I did anyhow, because they make great beer. It’s a dark golden beer with a nice head and a floral, fruity aroma, that is very nice. The flavour matches the aroma and has some notes of roasted malt too and a really nice bitterness.

Bottled, pasteurised, 500ml. Gold colour with big white head, some carbonation. Nicely pleasant golden beer, fully flavoured with a touch of peach, rich malt and a dry fragrant hop. A very pleasant bottled English beer, bought in Booths, Ulverston.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Nate (3327) - Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 27, 2004
Nice fruity/floral hops aroma, oily and citrusy, pine. Most hoppy aroma I’ve smelled since leaving the US. Malts, too, sweet and crisp. Hazy medium amber-orange with foamy white lacing head. Medium watery body with light carbonation, very smooth. Starts a bit acidic with a little sweetness. Malts with taste of tea, Twizzlers, and some sugar. Acidity lessens, and more pronounced bitterness and hoppy astringency comes in to finish. The after has a medium bitter edge to it, with light malty sweetness left over. Nice beer.
