COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle - also occasionally available in cask.
It’s lager, but it’s tasty. Lager/ pilsner is a great beer style, given a bad name by multi-national fizz. This is, as you would expect, pale, with restrained but fresh hop character from European lager hops. Lager malt has been used, but the rules broken by using ale not lager east.
Rarely in cask, but when it is it flies out. Brewed largely for bottle.

Looks like a lager but feels like an ale. Has a slight pale aroma and mild hopped taste.

Aroma: Very clean aroma of straw and faint citrus.

Appearance: Clear golden body with no head. Very light carbonation. No lacing marks.

Taste: Clean, lightly fruity taste. No metallic harshness like you get with most mass produced lagers.

Palate: Thin to medium body with a slightly oily mouthfeel. Soft carbonation.

Overall: About as good as a lager can be - clean, crisp and refreshing. The absence of additives you get in mass produced lagers makes this a good example of the style.

Bottle @ Red Squirrel
Golden, clear, good frothy white head
Aroma - light pale malt, soft spicy sazz hops, soft sweet malts, very light citrus
Taste - as aroma, nice sweet light caramel golden malts, soft spicy hops, really good tasting lager
Palate - medium carb and body, soft bitter light sweet caramel malts. Finish as main flavour = soft spicy hops, no metal or harsh crap like other lagers
Overall - Not a fan of lagers but I really enjoyed this - it’s a super example of the style. Didn’t seem like a golden ale to me when out of the bottle.

Keg at Holyrood 9A. Pale golden yellow, thin white head fades to almost nothing. Restrained nose, soft Saaz spice, lemon, nice hint of dewy freshness. Surprisingly soft carbonation, nice toasty bready malt and soft, refreshing spritzy sherbet hops. Soft lightly bitter finish. Lovely stuff.

[keg at the Bow Bar, Edinburgh] Clear golden pour, nice white head. Rising carbonation. Bitter grassy aroma. Very refreshing stuff, there’s a slightly spritzy bitterness there, with some good balance from the malt. Some hop in the aftertaste, which is very crisp. Really nice [12072012]

In bottle at Cloisters. Pours a golden colour with a fair white head. A lovely pilsner aroma of grassy hops, yeast and caramel. Similar flavours with lingering grassy hops again. Moderate carbonation and an foamy mouth-feel. Lovely.

Bottle from Ambleside Wines. Pours a clear gold with a thin head that sticks around. Bready, yeasty, fruity aroma. Hint of apples and citrus. Clean, crisp taste with a medium-short finish with minimal carbonation. Nice.

Cask conditioned at Fleetwood Beer Fest ’12. Pale gold with white head. Sharp, lemony hoppy flavour on a crisp fresh light malt. Really pretty enjoyable for this type of beer. Not bad.
