4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: APR 28, 2013 Aroma: Mango and kiwi notes. Sweet caramel.
Appearance: Completely clear light golden body with a thin, pure white head. Light carbonation.
Taste: Very hoppy with a tropical fruit flavour. Pine resin in there too. Dry, bitter finish.
Palate: Medium body with a sticky mouthfeel. Soft carbonation.
Overall: One for hop heads. Lovely sticky resin and fruit flavours. Arguably Hawkshead’s finest beer.

On cask at sir John moore, Glasgow. Pours amber with good white head. Overriding hops, grapefruit well balanced for its strength. Excellent

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bright golden. Fluffed dissipating head. Sweet full cone nose, honest and earthy. Hop water looseness with gripping bitterness. Oily mouthfeel and crisp tacked towards finish. Simple hop sweetness. Not enough Nelson.

Bottle. Gold with a white head. Aroma is strong hoppy fruit and quite sweet. The flavour doesn’t have the same impact as the aroma. This bottle as a bit flat. OK.

330ml bottle. This is a clear gold shade with a compact white head. Aroma has a sweet edge and showcases the NZ hops pretty well, with lots of white grape character coming through. Other than that I can definitely pick up some of those cat piss notes people always mention. Plenty of carbonation. Fairly dry rather than having the sweet edge of the aroma and ends with a lip-smacking pithy bitterness. Good stuff from Hawkshead.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Big aroma of citrus & hops, pours a wonderful clear golden brown. Taste is very hoppy, with fruits and some vanilla which gives a slightly different taste to other pale ales. Very nicely balanced palate going into a nice bitterness. Another very nice ale from Hawkshead. Recommended.

poured a deep straw colour with a dense foamy head. lots of hoppy grapefruit in the nose and plenty of hop flavour in the mouth. a powerful bitter finish.
overall very drinkable, especially considering the ABV - which is barely detectable.

Served from a super fresh cask at the brewery. Almost clear deep golden colour with a thick blanket of head which waves everywhere. Hungry deep tropical fruit bitterness.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Golden with a quickly diminishing thin white head. Aroma of earthy hops and caramel malt. Taste is sweet with a medium-heavy bitter finish. Pretty thin almost watery texture, medium carbonation. Distinctly average.
