Bottle from Tesco. Ruby red colour with a light ran head. Aroma is mainly toffee and this dominates the taste too. Ok but a touch sweet.

500 ml bottle from Les Vignerons. Wonderful dark amber/light copper, perfectly clear, with a nice, fluffy and persistent yellowish head. I had my last proper ESB a while ago, but this one it seems quite a textbook example, concerning the aroma. Slightly toasted malts, caramel, citrus jam/marmelade, earthy hops, a subtle hint of smoke and coffee as well. Taste pretty much follow suite. Silky smooth, very gentle fizz, moderate, clean and lingering bitterness. Solid level of taste (again caramel/toffee and fruity jam/marmelade) and ridicolous drinkability. Not the cleanest aftertaste (just a hint of cardboard/metallic notes) but I can’t really complain, it really is a perfectly decent interpretation of the style, imho. Soft to average carbonation, medium body, creamy texture. I wouldn’t mind 1 or 2 pints of this one on cask. Very good.
