Tap at Haymarket pub and brewery, Chicago - 04/11/12. Obscured mid amber with a thin white head which clears to a pond and the edges. Good lacing follows. Hops and pine at the fore of the nose, caramelised sugar, citrus notes. Taste follows nose, piney, hoppy, peach. Medium bodied with soft carbonation leading to a bitter finish.

Draft at hay. Pours gold white head, aroma cat piss and flowers. Flavors is earthy with grapefruit tangerine and pine. Really assertive lacking finese. Good but could use some refinement. Tasty though.

Draft at the club Oktoberfest. Pours an orangey gold with a sticky white head. Light haze to it. Nose is big and fruity hops, very American. Some graininess and a faint tart note as well. Citrus and resin, malt noted. On tasting, firm bitterness, very fruity, quite dry and clean. Well balanced with malt that may be a touch too sweet for my liking. Fresh and hoppy but just missing something. Solid.

On Cask at Jerry’s. Hazy gold-amber with big, whispy, flotsam, off-white head / Delicate, bright nose of cut pine, weed, citrus, and rye spice / Light to medium body, dry, hoppy with beautiful balance and lightly bitter finish / Flavors of melon, pear, apple, weed, dry hop, musty cabinet, caramel, cinnamon, and rye spice / What a beauty.

Draft on tap at the brewpub (Chicago, IL). Pours a rich glowing copper hue, light haze, glowing amber orange glow throughout, sunset bursts. Cakey offwhite head atop stays as a mellow layer and laces ok. Aromas are gumball, tropical fruit, and oranges. Soap, florals, grapfruit. Melon, leons, and grass. Soapy and floral with a mellow melange of fruity hops that grows to a firm dominant level. Some biscuits, bread. Very hopy fruity. Initial is lots of fresh hops, bitter and fruity, pine and florals come in firmly. Grapfrruit, soap, lemons. Pine, florals, rich bitterness smacks up front. Middle shows more melon, grapefruit comes on strong, florals, resinous. Touches of mellow bread, straw, some fruity melon and gentle tropical elements. Small maqlt feel with a huge hop agenda. Finishes bitter soap, florals, touches of pone and grapefruit. A new welcome fresh hop strong richly bitter offering from the Haymarket crew. My fave of the new beers today.
