The brainchild of Jeff Sparrow and our own Director of Fermentation, this Belgian IPA is 30% rye and hopped with Amarillo and Cascade. Pairs well with pulled pork chili, bacon mac n cheese.. Anything from a pig, really.

Hazy gold with sticky lacing. Medium aromas of citrus. Palate is.very strong with a pungent grapefruit flavor and an earthy finish. Very strong flavors-if you don’t like the taste of grapefrut rind, this is.not for you

Draft sample at MWBBF. Pours a pale straw gold with an orange hue and no head. Notes of grass, herbs, sweet malts, and pepper, along with some orange citrus and sweet bread. The Belgian character definitely takes a backseat to the Amarillo character. Light-medium bodied, with medium carbonation and a spicy, sweet mouthfeel. Good IPA.

Dark ambe rin color, nice head. Super IPA aroma and flavor. This was not an Angry brew rather very tasty. I was nicely surprised.

On tap @ the brewpub. Light orange amber, faintly hazy. Aroma of orange peel and light pine. Citrus peel hoppiness, lightly spicy, sweet candyish malts. Long coniferous bitter finish. Very tasty!

UPDATED: APR 23, 2012 poured from tap into a tulip. Pours a solid orange color with no real head. Well balanced and very aromatic with notes of creams, oranges, spices and a touch of hops. Full bodied with a very smooth feel, but lacking a bit in the flavors. Decent depth with flavors of spices, oranges and some creams. A very good belgian IPA. Well balanced and very drinkable. The spice on it is nice, but it is lacking a slight bit in the flavors.

Draft at Haymarket. Hazy yellow-gold body, small-bubbled white head laces, thin head remains. Nose is pineapple, peach, clean wheat before the mango and orange take over. Heavy bubblegum esters in flavor, light citrus and dirty wheat. Stinging, sticky profile, low carbonation, almost no hint of bitterness despite the heavy fruit presence, thankfully low residual sugars though low carbonation keeps it feeling a bit too sweet and muddled.

On tap at Haymarket. Pours deeply hazed golden orange with nice off-white head. Aromas of belgain spices, yeast, tropical fruits, rye, and some hops. Flavors of belgain spices, grapefruit, tropical fruit, rye, clove, and some malty sweetness. Really nicely balanced and drinkable IPA. Pretty nice beer.

On tap at Haymarket, after a session at the Festival of Wood and Barrel Aged Beers. The last beer of the day that I took any notes on. Hazy yellow with a small, bright white head. Bright nectarine, light spruce and mild bubblegum nose. Moderate clove and black pepper atop moderately bitter herby hops. An interesting and refreshing mix of spice- and fruit-centric hops.
