COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This dark malty ale is brewed with loads of English Chocolate malt, a touch of dark crystal and a hefty amount of Amarillo hops - creating a complex and delicious ale with hints of chocolatecovered mandarin oranges. Shoeless Joe and Judge Landis would agree on this one

Tap at Haymarket. Opaque black with a steady beige head. Big American Porter. Oily sweet specialty malt thing going on. They kind of nail it with the self described mandarin orange covered in chocolate. A pretty respectable porter, some odd, chalky edges.

Hella good porter from GABF. Dark brown pour, light tan head. Good roasty backbone, really good chocolatey notes, some coffee and a fruity note...not sure I got the mandarin...maybe more of a tropical note. Good stuff. Really nice.

GABF 2013. Pours a black appearance with a thin brown head. Really piney, spicy hoppy, dark chocolate, grapefruity aroma. A touch burnt chocolate malty flavor that is fairly roasty with a hint of smoke and pine.

Coffee and cocoa taste and aroma. Slightly bitter. After sitting on it I can taste the oranges. Easy porter to drink. Poured from draft at Haymarket Brewey in Chicago.

7/21/2011: Haymarket Black Sox Porter... Aroma: Roasty, nice chocolate and good coffee characteristics. Appearance: Deep brown color; dense brown head. Flavor: Roasty; creamed coffee; good sweetness. Palate: Average. Overall: Kind of like a milk stout with a bit more roast.

Draught (6.5% ABV) at Haymarket in Chicago, IL. Rating #22 for this beer.

Black pour with an espresso head. Aroma of sweet chocolate and hints of smoke. Light mouth with a nice chocolatey taste. Sweet taste but the Amarillo hops really balance it out. Nice beer.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours near black with a brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a lot of roasted malts, with dark grains, chocolate and a hint of dryness. Flavor is heavy with roasted malts and has a bit of chocolate with a dry finish.

Tap at brewery. Nice dark color not much head. Lots of chocolate with some roast on the nose. Noticeable hops. Taste is pleasantly malty to start finishing with strong hoppy bitterness. Palate us a bit bland but not too hot. Drinkable overall. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from tap at haymarket. Pours a dark brown color with a foamy head. Quite pungent with good complexity and aromas of roasted espresso beans, malts, chocolate, and some toffee tones as well. Full bodied with a real smooth feel. Very good depth as well with some power behind it and flavors of roasted malts, coffee beans, chocolate and there is even a citrus hint on the back end. This is a real quality porter. The citrus on the feel caught me a little surprised, but it was more in a good way than bad. This is one of the better beers I’ve had from haymarket.

Tap at the brewpub. Very dark pour with a clingy head. Bold chocolate, light smoke, full yet easy drinking palate. Great stuff.
