In honor of Officer Mathias Degan, the first of 8 of Chicagoís Finest to lose their lives in the line of duty during the Haymarket Affair. Copious amounts of Citra Hops deliver wonderful citrus and mango notes. At 10% ABV, we feel Mathias is a proper representation of the strength and courage of our Boys in Blue. Raise one to thank the fine Officers of the Chicago Police Department for their sacrifice.

A version of Uber Mathias is Mathias dry hopped with 10 lbs of Cascade per barrel.

Taster at the brewery. Cloudy burnt orange, tight head lasts and laces. Big aroma, floral, melon, and touch of malt. Rich, oily mouthfeel. Mix of tropical fruit and unripe melon, with some piney hops.

On draft at Haymarket. Clear medium gold color, with a whitish head. Sweet, butterscotch, bitterness, caramel, trash can fruit, cardboard, and a bit grassy. I wouldnít drink this. Maybe I got a bad batch, but I did drink it at the brewery, so itís their problem.

This stuff seems to be almost legendary in status around town but is really just a solid double. It is very pretty with sheets of lacing but thatís the most notable thing about it. Itís nice and fruity with a bit of pine and just a little too sweet. Itís well done and without flavor flaws. I canít complain.

32oz growler from the brewery. Filled and drank yesterday. Copper orange color. Malt heavy. Earthy and herbal hops. Some citrius, but not nearly as much as I expected from a Citra DIPA. Body is thick for an IPA, barley-wine like. This is pretty much on the border of Barleywine and DIPA.

Awesome taste with kind of amateur but complex palate so can't tell. Regardless an awesome beer with citra and hops I love. Seriously an awesome palate just not as refined which I love. Doesn't feel commercial. Hop filled. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at the brewpub, December 2015. A balanced double ipa, in which neither the sweetness of the malt nor the hops seem more prominent. Hazy, copper color. Big american hop aroma,Some hay and grass. Some flavor of alcohol is noticeable, it is bitter with hops but there is a lot of sweet malt as well.
