COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The second collaboration between Brewmaster Pete Crowley and Top Chef winner Stephanie Izard. This Belgian Farmhouse ale was brewed with whole fennel, toasted fennel seeds and fresh Michigan strawberries. Crisp, refreshing, and spicy!

12 oz pour on tap at the brewpub (Chicago, IL). Intrigued by this new collab. Pours a well hazed golden pour, paler glow with some touches of amber in the body and edges. A frothy whitish head atop dies to a film, laces small. Aromas are distinct strawberry sweetness, crisp bready malts, some straw, gentle sweetness picks up. Some grass, fennel elements, and more strawberries. Touches of floral and citrusy hops, more strawberry as it warms gives it an inviting fruity aroma. A touch tart, melon and strawberry, citrus. Gentle spice. Initial is lighter end of medium bodied, a bit dry and spicy up front, with fennel and dry earthy hops, gentle yeastiness dries out the palate a bit more. Straw, dry bready and grainy malts. Touches of spice as it lingers into the middle and back. Some yeasty elements, fennel, spice. Touches of sweetness are cool into back and finish, as mellow strawberry doesn’t strike a firm blow, instead remaining mellow, lingering spurts in the middle, finish, and aftertaste linger. Overall, it remains more dry and Farmhouse/Saison styled than I expected, with the strawberries complimenting instead of taking over. Spice, dryness, and fennel with crisper dry bready and pale grain malts, yeast influence taking the lead. Touches of hops, that fennel spicy element picks up further in and linger a bit more. Touches of lemon, soap, and grass. Pretty solid. Considerably different than expected.

poured from tap into tulip. Pours a nice hazy gold color with a good head. Balanced aromas of spices, citrus, pears and some creams. Lacking depth but solid. medium bodied with a nice smooth feel. But, it’s lacking on both the mid and finish with notes of spices, pears and some creams as well. This is a decent saison, but kinda forgettable. Nothing all that special but drinkable.
