COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A monstrously big black ale aged for 4 months in eight year old Woodford Reserve Bourbon barrels. Flavors of vanilla, coconut, chocolate, coffee, cherry and bourbon are matched by the warming effect of the brew.

Tap: opaque with rocky tan head, spotty lace. Rich roast and biting char with even handed bourbon. Bittersweet chocolate and walnut with a tad raisiny fruit. Ashy and shockingly dry finish. I like this

GABF 2014. Pours a deep brown appearance with a slightly thin brown head. A little on the boozy side but I guess that’s expected for the 13% boost. Dark chocolate, caramel, a bit of coconut. Almost like German Chocolate cake. Nice fucken beer but not as good as the Templeton release a few years back

Sampled at the brewery. Pours black with a lacy, beige head. Aroma of bourbon, roasted malts, coffee and chocolate, light bitterness, and hints of doigh. Flavor the same with a cool blend. Smooth texture. A good beer.

hayduke (3468) - Eureka, California, USA - MAY 8, 2014
Sampled at brewpub in Chicago. It came in the glass very black. No visible head by the time it got to me. Nose of chocolate, vanilla, and bourbon. Full in body with a boozy mouth feel. Flavor is very rich and the chocolate malts vanilla are about right, and there is a bitter sweet finish. Very well done and quite delicious.

Sampled at the brewpub. It poured a dark black color with almost no head. The aroma was of big vanilla, molasses, chocolate and booze. The taste was metallic and tart with a little bitterness and some sweetness. Very nice.

Sampled at Haymarket. Black with a tan head. Kind of angry looking head. Smooth bourbon wood aroma. Yes. The whiskey flavor is there but is not overdone. Some char. Again, yes. Malts, roast, wood, char, whiskey, vanilla. Bright citrusy bitterness. So smooth. So good.
