Pour on tap at GABF, thick black pour with creamy tan head, aroma brought notes of dark chocolate, coffee, roast into a nice sweet vanilla, oak, nice rye and whiskey notes come through, balanced with some grassy and spicy notes. Taste is a mix of grass, spice and yeast into a nice chocolate, roast and coffee, into some dark fruits, whiskey and rye notes, slight oak, vanilla, finishing bitter.

On tap @ Mikkeller Bar. This is a heavy deep dark brown one, let’s call it black, and it has a fantastic looking dark as hell little top. Oh, the aroma! Bourbon! The vanilla! The wood! The nugatti! The sweetness and the chocolate! Don’t think I need to say all that much more, this smells fantastic! It’s softly really prickling on the carbonation this and it has a thick chewy mouthfeel. Lovely flavors, and definitely interesting flavors. Sharp roasted with loads of chocolate and vanilla. The wood is really present here and the same goes for the dark dry cocoa. It also has a twist this one, and that goes with the slightly acidic touch this has. Really suiting to be honest. It’s leaving a mild warming sensation down the throat hill and a chocolaty roasted aftertaste. Really good! 02.05.2013

Draught. Pours black with a frothy light brown medium head. Aroma is very malty with roasted malt, brown sugar, cocoa, licorice, coffee, dark chocolate, rugbrød, rye’ish spice, coconut and well integrated wood. Taste is near heavy sweet and medium bitter. Body is full, texture is creamy, carbonation is soft. Finishes dry and light warming. Nice balance and elegant complex notes from the barrel aging. The barrel aging of this beer is rather excellent.

On tap at Mikkeller Bar, pours jet black with a medium brown head. Aroma of intense roasted malt, rich round chocolate malt, and cocoa - extremely complex. Flavour is insanely rich and complex, with notes of rich chocolate, moderate bourbon barrels, wood, and light roast. Extremely round and complex, with so many layers. The bourbon is used to perfection, without dominating. Phenomenal imperial stout.
