On tap at Apex Bar in Portland, OR. Colour...clear, garnet-amber with no head. Nose...redolent of hop resin and pine tar. Palate...sweeeet! More citrus than on the nose and loads of tropical fruit that allows the bite of the hops to push through. The boiled sweets amble through the palate as does some fruity frosting and it all works very well together!

Deep red pour with a thin head. Aroma of tropical fruit. Dank. Huge mouth. Taste is sweet followed by a bitter blast at the end. Citrus and some booze. Overall a very tasty DIPA.

I have had this many times but never rated it. The most noticable characteristic is the the fresh cat pee aroma from the citra hops - love it. Also aromas of mango and grapefruit. My favorite haymarket beer.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 Treebs (733) - , Illinois, USA - DEC 16, 2012
Enjoyed on tap at Haymarket. Served in a 12 oz. goblet.
A: Pours a dark amber color with a white head forming on the pour. It recedes slowly leaving behind some sticky sheets of lace.
S: Piney and citrus with a malty sweetness through out. Some orange and melon notes with faint hint of resin.
T: Absolutely delicious. Bursting notes of citrus and tropical fruits. Grapefruit, orange rind, and lemon zest. Pineapple and melon with some mild grassy notes and a little piney bitterness. Great malt backbone with some sweet bread and cereal grain flavors. Both are definitely sweet.
M: Medium bodied with a sweet finish and medium carbonation level. Highly drinkable.
O: I could crush glass upon glass of this stuff. It was sweet, but I really enjoyed it and the hop profile is down right delicious.
Serving type: on-tap

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Newk (299) - - OCT 11, 2012
Had on tap at haymarket. Poured into a goblet and pours dark orange color with a good small head.
Powerful and deep aromas of pine cones, resin, navel oranges, hops and loads of citrus and guava. There are good layers of aromas in this with the fresh hops being upfront and notable.
Full bodied with a really good and smooth feel. Not as layered, but the notes of guava, hops, pine cones and resin are still delicious.
Was offered this up as an alternative to the normal mathias by the bartender. I absolutely loved this and it is an amazing Imperial IPA.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 ROGUE (1566) - Newark, Delaware, USA - SEP 27, 2012
On tap at brewpub. Poured a cloudy light orange color with a dense white head. The smell was all citrus, with big funkiness and tropical fruit. The flavor is a bit more subdued than the smell, with a blend of fresh hops, some piney bitter backbone and a touch of sweet malt creeping through the hops. The mouthfeel is thick and full with a long oily finish.
