Great mango and grapefruit aroma, tropical almost. Alcohol is incredibly hidden.

My Bottom Line:
This slender Double IPA promotes grapefruit and wooden resins in an elegant mouthfeel.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam laces around the shiny bronze.
-The flavor profile is balanced, not brash.
-Malts are slick but don’t contribute much in the way of flavor.
-Fruitiness is also reminiscent of elderberries.
-The hop aroma could be brighter for the style.
-The Citra is not overwhelming in this one, avoiding the sandy pitfalls of the cat litter kind.
-This is professionally rendered and highly flavorful.
On tap at the brewpub.

Pour on tap at the brewery, hazy golden-orange pour with white head, aroma brought notes of nice grapefruit, peach, some pineapple into a bit of biscuit, bread, dough with a hint of pine in there as well. Taste was a mix of orange, grapefruit, pine and slight resin into a bit of biscuit, cracker, slight herbal notes, finishing bitter.

On tap at Haymarket, started with a 4oz. while sampling then had a 12oz. Everyone at the table liked this one, me included. Great taste and high powered, a perfect pairing. This should be sold in tall boy cans throughout the greater Chicagoland area.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
draft at brewery, maybe im getting too old for these iipas. Big sweet boozy and tons and tons of hops, some pineapple and light notes of the awesomeness of the citra hop but just too much sweet and booze to make it work very well. Next time.

Taster on tap at GTMW. Listed as Spam, Mathias... not sure if that’s a different entry or not... If so, please correct me. Clear golden orange color. Thin off-white kind of khaki head, leaves decent bits of lace. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, lighter carbonation. Kind of slick texture. Moderate sweet taste, moderate to bigger bitter taste. Bigger caramel malt, kind of grainy flavor. Pine, orange citrus. Some grapefruit. Nice DIPA, but a bit more malt flavor than I’d like, more sweetness than necessary. A more dry finish would be nice.

A golden copper ale with a thin white head. In aroma, smooth fruity caramel malt with good floral hops, catty and resinous. In mouth, sweet orange caramel malt, with fragrant hops, resinous and pungent, alcohol warmth. On tap at brewery.

On tap @ Haymarket. Amber to copper in color with an off-white head. Good hop aromas of pineapple, grapefruit, and orange. But, quite caramel forward and malty. Lots of pine as well. Tons of caramel, sugar, malt sweetness. Some pineapple sweetness, too. Grapefruit, tropical fruitiness from the hops, and a bit of pine bitterness. Good hop character, but too sweet.

Draft during Chicago trip in 2011. Pours a hazy orange amber color with a medium sized white head. The aroma and flavor is packed with tropical fruit, clementines and peaches, some grapefruit citrus, caramel, sweet honey, grapefruit rind, good bitterness. Alcohol is very well hidden as this is balanced and highly drinkable at 10%, yet assertive enough to warrant the Imperial IPA category. Extremely tasty.
