On draft at the brewery. Medium dark amber pour, somewhat cloudy, with an off white head. Fruity, sweet, caramel, brown sugar, Belgian yeast, dark fruit, some phenolics, and despite all the sweetness it feels a bit light and watery. Ok.

On tap at Haymarket. Poured hazy orange brown with white head. Aroma malty banana yeasts. Light carb med bod. Taste banana yeast sweet caramel.

On draft at Haymarket Pub and Brewery in Chicago. Pours a cloudy copper with an off white head. Banana nose. Flavors of grass and butterscotch. Smooth clean finish.

Tap at the brewery - hazy amber - decently done for the style - a lot of earthy, dusty basement yeast qualities add a fair amount of depth - some fruity easters and clove and pepper phenols - all kept in decent balance - malt character is a little lacking - some dark fruit, but overall a little flabby - decent otherwise.

Pour on tap at the brewery, dark reddish brown pour with off white head, aroma brought big caramel, toffee, slight dark fruit, hints of earth, spice into a bit of slight banana in there, touch of nutty notes. Taste was a mix of sweet dark fruit, caramel, toffee, some spicy clove, touch of banana into a bit of nuts, finishing sweet.

draft at brewery, i love doubles to i am biased towards them. This is a shock to say that I am displeased with this one, it is boozy and sweet. none of that balanced nutty flavors I like in a dubbel. BAD BAD BAD

[Tap] Pours a chestnut brown color. Not much head on top. Sweet caramel, brown sugar and light booze in the nose. More caramel, unrefined sugar, caramel and dark fruit in the taste. Lighter alcohol notes and a somewhat grainy finish. Pretty good.

Location: Draft at the brewpub, 5/28/14
Aroma: The nose is sweet malts, caramel, brown sugar, spice, yeast, and some dark fruit
Appearance: It pours a hazed amber-brown color with a fizzy off-white head and average lace
Flavor: The taste is much the same, rich malts, dark fruit, banana, spice, and brown sugar
Palate: The body is medium, it has some stickiness, and a has a smooth mouthfeel
I thought this was a very solid example of the style. It may be a bit too sweet, but that is on-style too. Pretty solid stuff, especially for fans of the sweeter Belgian styles.

On tap @ Haymarket. Amber/brownish colored beer with an off-white head. Heavy raisin, plum, and banana fruitiness. Sweet caramel and brown sugar, some toffee, and baked apples. Flavor is very sweet and fruit forward. Tons of dark fruit. Brown sugar, banana, raisin, and cola. A hint of chocolate and lots of caramel. Too sweet for me.
