COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our ode to Oscar Neebe, yeast saleman, friend of the brewer and one of the three to survive the trial of the "Haymarket Eight". A straw colored Belgian ale dry-hopped with Amarillo hops. A great session ale!

Draft on tap at the brewpub (Chicago, IL). Peteís first beers. Pours a murky hazed bright golden hue, a big offwhite head laces very well. Dies to a film, aromas are wheat bread dough and touches of apple, banana, touches of spice, lemon, and light hops. Yeast spice and bigger bread dough. Initial is lighter bodied, pear and apple, decent citrusy hops. Lingering bubblegum, bread, decent bitterness. Mellow lingering sweetness, esters, light grassy hops. Mellow lingering esters really kinda sum it up with a touch of spice. This beer seems like it could have used some more time in the fermenters

Tap at Haymarket. Hazy unfiltered orange-tan. Thin, steady oily white head. A really pleasant, well executed beer. Big hop and yeast tones, but a subdued malt backbone creates a smooth nice balance. Melon hop tones, maybe some amarillo. Nails it, well done.

UPDATED: AUG 5, 2012 draft at brewery. pours very hazy straw yellow with white head. nose is very yeasty and wheaty, some lemon, flavors are tart wheat, a bit puckering. Yeasty grainy, and very wheat forward., lemony and very mild pine notes, odd beer, not really drinkable. 2.5 2/12/12, rerate cuz Derek said it was so good. Itís true Pete has cleaned up or learned from his earlier batches as the yeast fermentation and hopping are working much better here. I still donít think itís amazing, ti Jean was way better but this serves a nice purpose being low alc and well hopped. Body is really thin. 8/5/12 another 12oz pour at the bar and Iím a pretty big fan. Thereís lots of flavor for 4.5% and $3.75. It really canít be beat. Clean citrusy, bitter, crisp. I could and want to drink this for days. 3.7

Sampled at the Midwest Belgian Beer Fest 2012 - pours hazy golden with a small white head. The aroma has tropical fruit, mango, pineapple, fairly toasty malt and fruity Belgian yeast. It has a medium / full body with semi-sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with the aroma hops, bready malt and Belgian earthiness. The finish adds some spiciness and dough. Nice Belgian pale.

Draught at brewpub. Light in body and taste. Nice aroma. Hoppy with yeasty finish. Some banana.

On draft at brewub poured a murky light yellow color, aromas of grass, caramel, light fruit and some toast. Flavors are the same with some nuts. Ok beer overall.

On tap the pub...A super murky neon straw, strangely reminds me of a glass of yeast. A couple fingers of white head, good lacing...Yeast and lots of it, yeast, and lemons. Not bad, needs to be a little sweeter...The taste starts off very yeasty, but brings about some nice sweet notes.. The finish is chalky and surprisingly alcoholic, which is a big detractor. Besides the finish this is pretty easy to drink. Iíd have it again.

Draft at Haymarket. The first of many from Peteís new shop! Pours a very turbid pale yellow, appearance is closer to a witbier than BPA, imo. Nose is tangerine, sulfur & marmalade. More estery than phenolic. Smells green. On taste, solid structure, actually has fermented pretty well (though the sulfur notes pervade) and mostly clean. Taste is still a bit green. Pleasant bitterness, full body and a bit yeasty. More of the citrusy notes as well. This could be good, just needs a couple more days in the conical, I think.

UPDATED: JAN 25, 2011 4oz sampler at the brewpub... Pours a cloudy somewhat murky orange hue with a rhin to medium creamy white head... Aroma hefe type of yeast character with banana bubblegum and very light on the hops... Flavors are much of the same earthy somewhat green with Belgian yeast profile, somewhat muted in nature with very little hop bitterness coming through. Carbonation is semi-lively with a light to medium body. Flavors are somewhat muddled but I think theyíll work out the kinks with the brewing system soon to sharpen things up.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clouded, golden-orange colored body with an inch thick, dense and frothy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is banana with a good amount of citrus and Belgian yeast. Fairly lemony with a light wheat tartness as well. Flavor is similar. Banana and lemony citrus up front with a light wheat. Some yeast and a light tartness in the middle before the hops kick up towards the end and dry this out completely with a moderate, earthy and piney bitterness along with a slightly tart lemon, peppery yeast, and Belgian yeast. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium body and carbonation. Overall, a solid Belgian pale ale. Nice flavor and well hopped with a distinct Belgian yeast. Easy drinking and very flavorful for being only 4.5% ABV.
