3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 deyholla (3533) - Waukesha, USA - MAY 15, 2011
On tap at the brewpub. Poured a clear orangish gold with a white head that dissipated slowly to the edges. Aroma was full of pine, resin and grapefruit with a backing sweet grain and bread note. Flavor begins with pine and grapefruit with a bit of resin as well as a hint of citrus coming out in the finish. There was a slight sweet bread backing on the tongue.

draft at Haymarket, Chicago. much more subdued than the Matias, orangis gold pour, big citrus hop presence, very balanced, pretty easy drinking at 9%. enjoyed this
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Pailhead (3449) - Plymouth, Michigan, USA - MAY 10, 2011
On tap: Big citrusy aroma with a touch of pineapple. It’s a slightly hazy amber/orange with a small off-white head that leaves some spotty lacing behind. The flavor starts with sweet cirrus (orange) and light tropical fruits. The finish has light-moderate grapefruit. Medium-full bodied with mild carbonation. Overall, I would prefer a little more grapefruit bitterness to balance the sweet citrus.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 lushawn (2242) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - MAY 7, 2011
Tapppppppppp. Orangepeel grapefruit herbal hop profile. Touch of caramel and toast. Falls a bit flat. Decent, preferred the fear america we are employing some crazy asses mixed strategy IPA.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 pantanap (2838) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 7, 2011
On tap at haymarket... Pours a slightly hazy touch deeper than copper orange brown with a frothy creamy white head... Sweeter orangey citrus in the nose makes the first impression and continues on through in the flavor. A touch sweet overall with a tropical fruit forwardness but not too vibrant or distinct for that matter. Medium bodied with a lasting booziness and a more subtle bitterness.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 phaleslu (3544) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - MAY 2, 2011
Sample from a growler shared by some nice folks at the Pre-DLD event at Flossmoor Station. Pours a cloudy amber-golden color with a small eggshell white head that doesn’t last long. Really fruity aroma, led by notes of orange and grapefruit citrus, mango, papaya, and some underlying herbs and sweet malts. Flavor is nearly as fruity, but also has more caramel malts and corn flake notes. Medium-bodied, with a fruity, juicy mouthfeel and medium carbonation. The bitterness is trumped by the fruitiness. Not a whole lot of complexity but a nice easy-to-drink IIPA.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 drewbeerme (3305) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 29, 2011
Draft at the brewpub, pours hazy orange with white foamy head. Nose is really fruity, mango, peaches and apricot come to mind. The flavor is big fruity and boozy, big sweet candy citrus, apricot, mango, and a rugged bitter booze finish. The hop flavors taste great but suffers quickly from being way to sweet and boozy.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 NobleSquirrel (2677) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 29, 2011
Draft at Haymarket. Pours a lightly hazed copper with a quickly dissipating offwhite head. The nose pops at first, distinctly tropical and citrus amarillo hopping. Could use a bit more dry hop to really sing. On taste, quite clean fermentation profile and well put together. Does lack lack a bit of the hop complexity that would really make this an outstanding beer. The bitterness is at a good level and the alcohol does warm you a touch. I’m a fan.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 TheAlum (3299) - Lisle, Illinois, USA - APR 28, 2011
Draft on tap at the brewpub (Chicago, IL). Pours a deeper orange amber hue, some darkness, sunset glow to it. A small frothy offwhite head dies to a small lacing head. A ring clinger, light lacing. Aromas are some deeper grapefruit, lemons, and orange. A citrusy vibrance that grows with telltale Amarillo hops, with some deeper citrus, florals, faint pine. The malts are covered up, some bread and dough, touches of sweeter biscuits. Initial is medium bodied, a vibrant orange and grapefruit off the bat, some touches of florals. Light grass, faint pine. Some bready malts, biscuits, and touches of toffee. Mellow, firm bitterness and resinous hops. Lingering fuzzy peach, touches of melon, moving back into bigger citrus rind. Finish leaves a moderate dryness, growing crisp malts with a touch more sweetness. Fruity and solid, lacks the bitter oomph I want, but a nice DIPA.
