3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured black with a tannish head.
Smells of a box o chocolates. A little bit of roasted malt and floral hop is in the nose, but chocolate is the dominant one.
Taste is pretty similar. The roasted malts arenít quite as burnt as some other stouts Iíve had, which is good in my book. Heavily influenced by chocolate with a little coffee, molasses and more floral/spicy hop presence.
Mouthfeel is a bit light for the style, but it is still good and creamy.
I was pleasantly surprised by this beer. Apparently itís not one of their mainstays so weíll see if I can ever try it again.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draught at brewpub. Creamy chocolate dry stout. Not imperial in body, but I did detect bourbon even without a barrel used here. LIght body, but hoppy and tasty.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at Haymarket pub and brewery, Chicago - 04/11/12.
Very dark mahogony brown in the light, approcaching black when not, with a thin tan head.
Nose is roast malt, hops, toffee and some chocolate.
Tastes of roast malts, leather, liqourice, molasses with a great hoppy backbone.
Medium to full in body, soft carbonation.
Almost akin to a Black IPA as much as a stout! Tidy drop.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap @ the brewpub. Near black, brown finely bubbled head. Rich dark roast coffee aroma, hints of black cherries. Hard roasted palate, coffee and char, light liquorice, met by intensely bitter hops. The potential cherries in the nose are swept away here, but it is still a potently flavoured brew. I liked it.
