COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This big dark ale is brewed with copious amounts of roasted barley, chocolate malt and oats, then hopped and dry-hopped with loads of Chinook. Flavors and aromas of coffee and chocolate are complimented by citrus and pine. A truly complex and intense brew!

Draft at Haymarket. Finally, a stout! This one is a winner in my book. Pours a deep brown/black with a tan head. Nose is quite resiny and hoppy with some expresso and cocoa coming through. Very nice nose on this one. On taste, the hops don’t over kill. The mingle well with the chocolatey malt profile. Some light caramel as well. This beer reminds me of a big dry-hopped Dry Stout. It is under-bodied for an Imperial Stout, but it doesn’t really fit anywhere else. This one was a pleasure to drink and I can’t wait for more stouts from Pete!

On tap at GABF. I was parked out next to Haymarket! Pours a wonderful jet black color with a thick brown head. The aroma is massive coffee and a heavy roast, some pine. The flavor is dominated by a rich earthy coffee and heavy metallic roast with melds with some lingering bitter hops. Very damn good. Very tasty and drinkable.

On tap @ brewery. Dark mahogany bordering black pour with a small latte pour. Aroma of Starbucks and Hershey with a strong hop presence that works its way through every aspect of the beer. Flavor is heavy hopped and roasty with dark malt, vanilla, chocolate, and coffee present. Medium to creamy mouthfeel.

Draft at haymarket. Pours black with a tan head around the rim. Aroma has loads of chocolate, espresso, and hop notes of citrus and pine. Flavors have a big roasty and citrus hop fruitiness, chocolate and espresso, sweet raisin filling, long orange tinged bitterness that comes off a little odd at times. Nice big roasty and hoppy. It’s not perfect but I like it!

On tap @ the brewpub. Near black, brown finely bubbled head. Rich dark roast coffee aroma, hints of black cherries. Hard roasted palate, coffee and char, light liquorice, met by intensely bitter hops. The potential cherries in the nose are swept away here, but it is still a potently flavoured brew. I liked it.

Draught at Haymarket. Black - brown head. Burned. Sweetness. Burned grains. High bitter hoppy. High malty. High dry burned. Licorice. Hard burned coffee beans. Ok.

On tap at haymarket... Pours a thicker dark charry pour, mostly opaque, and crowned with a thick crey tan head... Nice roasty chocolatety charred profile while citrusy hops come through on the backend... Flavors improve nicely with such a nice thick full body which is then accentuated by bittersweet chocolate and a backing piney citrusy note. Body is smooth and easy going. Nice bitterness on the backend to boot.

Picked up a growler of this last week. Pours near black with tan head. Nose is roasty with chocolate, pine, and some citrus. Flavor is roasted malts, piney hops, bit of citrus, chocolate, and some raisins. Body is a little thin but this was very drinkable and the best of all the Haymarket beers I have had.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours very dark brown with a chocolate milk head; terrific lacing coating the sides. Aroma has bakers chocolate and coffee with some dark fruit. Taste brings bitterweet chocolate, roasted malts, expresso. Perhaps a bit thin for a stout. Finishes medium and bittersweet. Nice solid stout - alcohol well hidden.

On tap: The aroma consists of chocolate, piney and citrus hops, and a touch of espresso. It’s a dark brown with a small tan head that leaves behind some great webbing for lacing. The flavor starts with a quick dose if dark chocolate and a touch of espresso. The finish has lots of piney and citrus hops along with a hint of roast. Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation.
