3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 TheAlum (3299) - Lisle, USA - DEC 23, 2011
Draft on tap at the brewpub (Chicago, IL). Pours a dulled hazed darker golden orange pour, into the amber realm, with a frothy brighter white head that sits atop as a decent layer, laces ok as it dies to a thicker ring. Aromas are mild citrusy lemon and grass, gentle florals, pale malts, touches of gentle soap on the nose. Mellow touches of tropical fruit, though quite light as the aromas with this beer fade out. Initial is lighter bodied, offering decent lemon and tropical fruit essence, decent florals and grass. A decent bitterness and mellow fruity quality move into a bready middle, lingering hops and mellow dryness. Fairly clean, dry slanted, as the finish offering gentle soap, mellow mango and lemon essence. Touches of grapefruit, light florals, grass. Clean yet a bit underbodied and underwhelming flavorwise. A summer pounder, this beer lacks life and a defining character, even for the style. While the tropical essence is mellow and interesting, I’d like a touch more life from the hop profile, as the beer itself is begging to let the hops take over more. Ok. Pricey for what it offers, probably losing a point for that.
2.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 jrallen34 (3445) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 18, 2011
Draft... Dark orange mostly clear, great thick retentive head... Tons of fruit in the nose, mostly mangos with a bit of bubblegum, I like it... Taste doesn’t translate, more mango but it’s bitter hips ran all over the malt, off grass... Good start but didn’t finish well enough to recommend

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 holdenn (1857) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 17, 2011
On tap at hm. Clear yellow with a white head. Nose that is light but odd and funky. Some citrus and hay. Light bitterness that is strongly earthy. I like the dryness of it but it’s too earthy without a bright or clean citrus flavor.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 NobleSquirrel (2677) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 15, 2011
Draft at Haymarket. Pours a nice looking gold with a hint of orange and a white head. Nose is oddly restrained. Some citrus peeks out, as does a faint grainy note. On tasting, quite a strong bitterness, strongly balanced towards bitter. Earthy malt and a hint of citrus. Weirdly lacking in pop. Meh.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 drewbeerme (3305) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 14, 2011
Draft at Haymarket, pours clear golden with white head. aroma has some faint floral and melon notes with hint of grass. Flavors have a big biscuity character while grass, some sourish melon notes, and peppery backend finish. Thin body. Not a very big hop character and sort of a pale ale lacking character.
