Draft on tap at the brewpub (Chicago, IL). Post Engagement Photos. Pours a nice lightly hazed orange amber hue, glows well with a nice haze, lively carbonation with a decent sized offwhite head that dies to small layer, light lacing. Aromas are pretty light overall, touches of pale malts and cereal grains mix with some light lemon and florals, gentle citrusy grapefruit, grass. Fairly clean on the nose, pushing a little further into oranges and tangerines. Initial is lighter bodied, offering crisp cereal grains, pale malts and a healthy blast of lemony and floral hops up front for the size of the beer. Grass, touches of fruitiness. More oranges, some pale malts, gentle bread and grains. Fairly clean, a touch soapy and floral into the middle where it cleans up pretty well, dried up finish. Fairly simple but very drinkable. Could use a touch more on the flavoring hops, but doesn’t seem like that is what it’s going for.

The torch pale ale 5,5%. Pours clear amber with a white head leaving lace. Aroma is heavy malty, piny, grapefruits, soapy and grassy. Favor is similar to aroma, great bitterness and malty body plus sweet. Finishes bitter malty.

Draft... Murky dark straw, not a fan I’ve the colors, hardly any head... Dead aroma... Tastes like a generic pale ale, very bitter, sawdust with grass, alcohol finish.... Pass ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft at Haymarket. This was the best of the stuff on tap this visit. Pours a pale gold with a fluffy white head. The nose is hop forward, some melon and tangerine notes supported by the biscuity malt notes. On tasting, clean and fresh, balanced between the bitterness and malt. Bitterness is on the soft side, yet firm. More of the melon notes, likely from the willamette. Really nice APA, this one.

Draft at hay, pours clear light yellow with white head. Aroma has good piney and grapefruit notes. Flavor is pretty simple, just a clean and stiff bitter grapefruit rind, grass, and some spicy backend. Clean and good yeast production here. Perhaps not the best hop choices but I still enjoy this on a lot.

Draft sample. Poured a clear golden color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate earthy hop and malt aroma. Medium body with a tingly slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. I would recommend this to a freind.

Tap at the brewpub on Dec. 6, 2011. Mostly clear gold pour with a smaller white head. Grainy mild hop nose. Medium palate. Mild hop profile with a touch of caramel.
