COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Chicago was once home to numerous ’Tied’ houses, bars that were owned by the brewery whose beer they served. Look for the ’Schlitz’ logo on the building! In honor of those classic old bars (but not having to be tied to certain brands) we brewed this light bodied malty and slightly hoppy straw colored Belgian ale and then dry hopped it with Amarillo!

Draft, pours hazy blonde with white head. Nose of sulfur, slight pineapple, and honey. Flavors are rather dry, sulfur, astringent on the palate, citrusy grapefruit rind finish. Crisp and refreshing but pretty straight forward and lots of sulfur yeast character.

Tap sample. Poured hazy amber color with medium white frothy head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Medium citrus and yeasty aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate long duration. Very solid brew.

Draft at Haymarket. Pours a hazy whitish yellow with a sticky head. Nose is peppery and spicy, citrusy notes come across nicely as well. Hopping level is nice. On taste, firm bitterness and a cleaner fermentation profile than expected. Some fruity esters and light banana but is overtaken by the hop character. Comes across a bit catty in the finish, which is odd but likable. Pretty decent.

Draft on tap at the brewpub (Chicago, IL). Pours a straw hazy hue, pretty well hazed with some ok glow. A decent frothy whitish head sits atop, stays level, laces well. Aromas are bananas and lemons, with a decent touch of citrusy hops, florals, bread dough and touches of yeast, some touches of sulfur. Fruity and mellow with a decent hopping. Estery pear and banana pair with a lighter citrus rind. Initial is lighter bodied, up front with a decent bitterness, some tart lemon, grass moves into some fruity tartness, dry florals and grass. Then, some sweet tart apples, pear, bananas move in on the backend. Finish stays decently bitter, with bread dough, citrusy lemon rind and fruit provide a touch of tartness, earthy hops, some light fruity esters. A forgettable Belgian Ale, with some nice sessionability, a decent bitter finish. Weird little beer with sulfur, dry bitterness stronger than the fruit esters once I get into it.
