Draft on tap at the brewpub (Chicago, IL). Another new IPA from Pete. Pours a rich glowing golden hue, touches of darker amber, a good healthy haze mixes with a frothy moderate sized cakey eggshell head. Laces ok and sticks around overall. Aromas are a rich American hopping, offering copious grapefruit and lemons, florals and grass. Touches of orange peel, pale malts, bread, and firm dryness stick. Melon and fruity sweetness, a touch of gumball/cotton candy essence on the nose and trace tropical fruit. Initial is lighter end of medium bodied, quite drinkable with soap and fruit, grapefruit mixes with lemons, pale malts, bread, and more melon. Touches of dry florals and grass into the middle, gentle tangerine and melon grows, mellow sweet fruit yet still a firm bitter dryness. Lingering tropical fruit and melon, dry florals and bitter hops linger. Touches of grapefruit, more florals. Overall, lighter fare with an interesting hop slant. It’s flavorul, sufficient bitterness but nothing over the edge. Pretty nice, gets a bit more fierce up front as it warms up a bit more and envelops the palate. Solid. Nice hop profile, a touch sweet at times but nothing overbearing. Flavorful hops.

NobleSquirrel (2677) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - FEB 13, 2012
Draft at Haymarket. Better than the double IPA that was on. Pours a paler orangey gold, hazy with a fluffy head. Nose is citrusy and fresh. Light biscuity malt notes as well. Pretty clean overall. On tasting, nice and firm bitterness that sticks with you and then some soft juicy citrus. Again, clean and crisp. Pretty solid, but not really anything outstanding.

Draft at Haymarket, pours clear gold with white head. Aroma of pineapple, peaches and pine. Flavors have more of the same, pretty bitter grapefruit rind and juicy citrus fruits. Med bodied. Solid ipa.

Draft. Fizzy white off white head. Grapefruit aroma and flavor. Firm hop bitterness balanced very well with the malts. Great example of an american ipa.
