3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 dreamflower (343) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - APR 6, 2013
On tap at the brewpub in Chicago. Shared with northropfye. I enjoy witbiers, especially ones with a bit of fruit, in this case orange. I enjoyed this quite a biit.

Some colour. Kind of mild and disappoting. Some citrus and malt notes but overall a bit of a let down. Not a lot of flavour.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 NobleSquirrel (3286) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 26, 2011
Draft at Haymarket. This is the type of witbier I really like. Pours a hazy pale yellow with a fluffy white head that sticks around. Nose is very wheaty. Citrus and candy come through in the nose, as well as a white pepper note. On taste, big bready malts display what wheat should taste like in a beer. Again, a bit of candy in the background. The slight tart citrus in here is really nice and this all ties together. A touch of sulfur that is actually welcomed. Damn solid beer.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 TheAlum (4289) - Lisle, Illinois, USA - MAY 23, 2011
Draft on tap at the brewpub (Chicago, IL). Pours a nice lemon milkshake hue, thick murky haze, with a moderate bright white head atop, laces ok and cakes. Aromas are a melange of citrus and lemon, orange peel and light coriander mix with wheat bread, flaked wheat, and dough. A lot of citrus grows, more lemony in my book with touches of spice, a lot of mellow bread dough. Initial is light bodied, a moderate tart orange peel bite moves into a dry bitterness and flaked wheat appeal, coriander was stronger on the palate than the nose. Fizzy on the palate, good dryness keeps me away from the sweeter Witbiers. An ok Wit, dry and citrusy as opposed to sweet. Quite drinkable, but also fairly forgettable. A solid wit that remains dry into the finish, some citrus and spice trying to work through.

Sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Poured an extremely cloudy orangish gold with a large frothy white head that lasted throughout the beer. Aroma had a good amount of citrus with some backing sweet grains and a hint of clove and coriander. Flavor began sweet with wheat but was joined by citrus, bananas and coriander.
