COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The brain child of Southside homebrew contest runner-up Jeff Adams, this big wheat ale utilizes loads of wheat malt, a touch of crystal, and a fair whack of Cascade hops both in the kettle and dry-hopping. Jeff didnít win first, but hey, sometimes coming in second isnít so bad! He got to come brew his beer here at Haymarket for all of you to enjoy!

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear gold with a slight amber hue and a white head that dissipates to the edges and laces. Aroma has musty wheat, earthy grassy hops and a touch of pine. Flavor has a bit more pine with a musty wheat backing and a touch of grass.

Draft at Haymarket. Pours a hazy golden orange, sticky offwhite head. The nose is kind of bland. Grassy and citrus, a meaty wheat quality and some booze. On tasting, pretty flabby and bland. The cascades in here just donít do much for the beer and it is out of balance. Sharp alcohol on the finish. Disappointing.

Small pour on tap at the brewpub (Chicago, IL). Pours a richer amber glowing hue, a mellow hazed body with some orange elements getting a bit fiery on the edges, dulled and darker in the middle. A cakey whitish head atop remains a nice layer and laces ok as it sits atop, filmy layer. Aromas are fruity ester of melon, banana, and pear. Flaked wheat, touches of citrusy hops, a bit tropical and citrusy, some florals. A bit sweet as I settle in but more of an American hopping wins me a bit more for an odd style. Initial is lighter end of medium bodied, firm bitterness smacks up front. Floral, a touch weedy and piney. Earthy feel and firmly dry as we hit some citrus elements, lemon and bready dryness. Firm hopping lingers on and keeps moving. Resiny and floral, some citrus, lemon and kisses of orange. Middle is still dry and hoppy, focusing on some bready malt, flaked wheat, and grain backing in. Touches of grapefruit, mellow sweet bread. This is actually quite hoppy, a bigger Wheat Ale with firm to strong American hop elements. Finish is a bit more crisp, bready, some dough, gentle fruit but still a firm dry hopping. Pretty solid for what it is, not what I expected at all.

Tap at Haymarket. Clear light golden pour with a sticky white head. Wheat beer with a pronounced hop kick - but no bitter finish. Pretty solid.

Draft. Pours golden with white head. Aroma is florals and sweet malts. Flavors are spicy and floral hop notes met hard with a sweet wheat malt character, plasticy malt note, some grapefruity hop notes. Boozy too. I donít really understand this one.
