Extra Strong Beer
A pioneer and leader, in the beer segment of India. Selling over 2.5 million cases annually in Mumbai alone. This is a light, refreshing brew of low specific and distinctive flavour, with a unique grist composition that contributes to its individual cachet.

Promising malty aroma, large bottle. Medium carbonation. Flavor light and dry, also metallic, thin, and undistinguished. Pilsneresque dry bitter finish. A hybrid beer. Not bad with a beautifully prepared Indian meal, and surely no worse than other restaurant ethnics - i.e. Tsing Tao, Dos Equis, Carta Blanca, Kingfisher, et al. Like the others, I wouldn’t actually buy this at a packaged goods store.

Since this is a 5% beer, I suggest it be renamed ’Haywards 5000’ for simplicity. It’s a decent brew but it’s simple and lacks any complexity. A moderate amount of malt does impart some flavor.

Presented with a surprising head, but it was airy rather than foamy. Little bit of a malt flavor, but it’s mostly just a thin mediocre beer.

Light gold. Nose grassy, some adjuncts. Flavor very sweet, a few hops. Standard lager, nothing offensive, just boring.

looks like carbonated apple juice w/ a small white ok lacing head. smells of light rotten apples some malt.. and just not good. Palate is ok coating some body and a little bit of carbonation.. flavor is lightly malty some wheat a touch of tart bitter in the finish. Pretty blah but also pretty unoffensive.

Canned(330ml). -golden coloured, minimum head, too much carbonated, malty aroma with hints of rice, just another ordinary lager

Week. Boring. Sour rice malt taste. Better than Kingfisher and Taj-Mahal, but that isn't saying much.

Not overly impressed with this beer. For starters, I have no clue why this beer is labeled ’Extra Strong’ because it neither tastes nor contains a strong amount of alcohol. Just a watery taste with some bready overtones. In fact, I thought this beer was just average in every sense of the word. If you’re looking for a good Indian beer, try the Kingfisher Lager for a much more refreshing and fulfilling beer.

UPDATED: DEC 14, 2008 [bottle - 650 ml] Clear and pale yellow. No head. Looks like apple juice. Slightly sour and bitter smell with some hints of grain and grass. Slight taste of apple peels, apple cores, grass, hay and some malt. Not much hops present. Lots of grain. Very watery.

The weakest from this brewer. Minimalistic and all ways.
