BruceLeroy (68), North Dakota, USA Aug 18, 2002 Updated: Jul 21, 2003 Pretty decent brew. Fruity and malty. Goes very well with food if you drink one or two. Definately has a decent attempt at East Indian taste to it (whatever that means). East Indian food is the spiciest damn food I've ever tasted, but hey everyone loves spice. This beer sure as hell wouldn't put out any fire because of it's own natural hotness. Although, to be honest the only food I've ever tried it with was Italian. As said earlier this has no head, but I'm not necessarily sure that's what is meant to be accomplished with this. Also it has very low carbonation (a la no head). GOOD STUFF. Not an IPA as far as I know, though it could almost pass for one. I dislike IPA's, but this ale is great! This is definately the best offering from this brewer. Basically everything else they sell is crap.
RERATE:Just had a sixpack and boy has this stuff gone downhill!! No carbonation or flavor to speak of. This is nothing like the stuff I used to drink about a year ago. What happened???
RSRIZZO (979), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Sep 26, 2007 Had this beer on 7/24/2000. Aroma is a lightly sour malt scent. Color is a pale gold with light carbonation and head. Taste is like a piece of burnt bark. Starting with a medium body it goes down sharp. Finish is BAD, it comes on with a taste that is like burnt malt ground up with stale wood. Overall this may be one of the worst beers I’ve ever had and is definitely the worst beer H.C. has ever made. I just don’t know what they where thinking. Tmoney99 (3471), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Aug 7, 2006 Bottle from Party Town, KY. Poured amber color with a moderate white head that diminished slowly with good lacing. Moderate sweet malty aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture. Heavy sweet flavor with a sweet finish of average duration. This did not meet my expectations. AlchemistZ (493), Richmond, Virginia, USA Jun 23, 2005 Old notes. Light in body, crisp but insipable when cold, as it warms its drinkability increases and the finish weighs in with a complex caramel maltiness. Light, but rich red in color. Very little bitterness. turbo (1244), Arizona, USA Feb 27, 2005 Poured red amber with no head or lacing.
Aroma and flavor of malt made this beer too sweet for me.
Drainpour. Slick (1956), Minnesota, USA Aug 2, 2003 Orangish color, small to no head mild lacing on the side.Malty sweet aroma with a raisin hint and other dried fruit in it,possibly bitter orange peel, mild spice as well.Malty taste with a decent spice to it and mild bitterness fruity and nicely hopped. The after taste is sweet hoppy and mildly fruity as well.nice mild feel in the mouth.A good brew worth trying again.
