I know this brewery is discontinued, but I feel I should pay some respects. From memory I always liked this beer. Of course I was in my early 20s and new to the craft beer idea. These guys were one of my first introductions.
NOTE: I am rating the average as not to affect the overall percentile.

12oz bottle-A black body with a tan head and an aroma of chocolate. Taste of the same with the chocolate being very prominent. Good tasting stout. I miss this brewery.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 AlchemistZ (493) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - JUN 23, 2005
Old notes. Dark, tan head that thins quickly; opaque black/brown color. Intense chocolate aroma with a touch of dryness and some hazelnuts. A slightly sour chocolately, sweet character (probably from too low a pH). Finishes sweet with a slight roast character. More of a porter than a stout.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Sassy (217) - Mullet Capital of the World, Georgia, USA - FEB 1, 2005
How did you find this one Shag? It wasnt bad but the bottle was probably old. It was chocolatey more than anything. A bit watery but not bad at all. RIP.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Shag (2283) - Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA - MAY 10, 2004
How I managed to stumble across this is beyond me. But low and behold there was a lonely 6 pack sitting on the shelf. The beer poured like motor oil. Dark black appearance with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted malts and chocolate. Its slighty bitter with a heavy chocolate taste. Some sourness is present in the aftertaste. Not a bad stout at all.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Steib (613) - Queen Creek, Arizona, USA - AUG 23, 2003
Dark as night color. Minimal head. Malty aroma. Rich chocolate flavor with hints of caramel. Soft on the palate, not much texture from a stout. Very drinkable though.

Black beer with a thin, oily film on top. Strong roasted nose with big hints of vinegar. Dark bitter chocolate tastes but also burnt caramel sweetness. Decent, but disjointed. And now its gone.
4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 PorterPounder (4115) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - FEB 25, 2003
Nice deep dark choolate syrup/motor oil pour. Fresh, molasses, pruney like aroma, bit of chocolate to sweeten it up. Thick, dark pour with a caramel color head and a fair amount of lacing. Excellent stout flvaor - hint of bittersweet chocolate and burnt coffee. Flavor does not let up throughout the entire 12 oz - does not sour or bitter up. Overall - an excellent stout! Thanks Aurelius for this one.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Aurelius (3147) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - FEB 8, 2003
Pruney, dark malt or molasses, cocoa nose. Nice aroma hops. Appearance dings for the screw-off cap and the lazy clip-art label. Black beer with thin, fine head. Good balance, not too tart or bitter-roasted. Sweet, some cocoa, but generally indistinct. Smooth, mild finish, but thin. In general, this is a decent quality session stout [5.4% ;)] and the basic recipe would serve as the basis for a more distinctive brew -- needs a jolt of oatmeal or lactose.
