Back at Leicester 09 for the Friday night session. Lovely filthy yellow rim around pitch. Big bittering dry hop, burnt toast and lingering chocolate ashiness. Aroma blackened barley and inedibly charred fire alarm toast heading straight for the bin. Some deep woody nut notes in there. Rock solid.

Cask. Pours an opaque black with a beige head. Hard burned malts and licorice in the nose. Medium body, fairly low carbonation, notes of hard roasted malts, coffee and licorice with an underlying tartness. Some malt bitterness. 170110

Cask conditioned handpump Star Geddington. A black beer with a gorgeous frothy coffee head. A sour fruity stout with coffee notes apparent. Some sweet lactic character from time to time but it’s the sour frutiness which dominates. Alright.
