SuzyGreenberg (1318), Seattle, Washington, USA Mar 9, 2008 snifter @ beverage place barleywine bacchanal - tapped with much anticipation and a nice 9mm on the sign; actually called a malt liquor and it certainly smelled like a jacked up one; took me a while to get beyond the strong aromas and it drank as strong; took a while for me to get this one down and just not my type of beer, liquor or even liquid for that matter CapFlu (3480), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Sep 23, 2007 (12oz bottle) Sampled at the Post-post-Great Canadian Beer Festival 2007 in Victoria on September 9th, 2007. Courtesy of Oakes. Near headless with a copper body. Iodine, fresh figs and alcohol. Too powerful in aroma. Smooth bourbon. Lasting raisin and brown sugar. Wonderful. Oakes (8057), gone rambling, Vietnam Sep 16, 2007 Pours with very little visible carbonation. Dull dark amber colour. No head. Big heady bourbon aroma meshing vanilla with the caramel chewiness of the 9mm, and no shortage of booze. Big boozy brew with lots of maple and vanilla notes to temper the heat and to fill out the flavour profile. I like.
