harlequinn (2746), Tacoma, Washington, USA Mar 13, 2006 2005 Vintage - Intense and unique, with some interesting dark fruitiness. Strong bitterness, with a sharp alcohol burn, that is kind of subdued by all the strong fruit flavors, sweetness from the brown sugar, and still tastes really young. I would like to come back to this vintage in a couple of years. mrmikey59 (3), Poulsbo, Washington, USA does not count Sep 9, 2005 I brewed this barleywine at Heads Up based on his recipe. After 1 year of aging, the malts are starting to peak and the sharpness of the hops is nearly gone. I can’t wait for a taste next year and I’ll be doing verticals of this fine brew in 5 years! acrdz (4493), Boulder, Colorado, USA Apr 13, 2005 Hard Liver 2005

Very dark color and a typical grainy tan head. Sharp scetone aroma and flavor, with a stinging sharp plum and red grape flavor throughout. Somewhat fizzy, with sweet brown sugar and a bothersome twang centered around the brown sugar.
