duff (5407), Sydney, Australia, Surrey, England Apr 16, 2008 Cask@Pigs Ear Fest. Lots of sweet caramel and brown sugar notes. Lots of raw alcohol burn from start to finish. Yes, quite medicinal as well. Bit one dimensional.
johndoughty (1692), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England Feb 16, 2008 Bottle. Bought for an amazing £1.95!
Brown appearance with no life whatsover. Deceiving presence of alcohol-without the bottle you wouldn’t believe it was 9.5 per cent. The subtle sweetness lingers .Not an outstanding barley wine but better than some. MesandSim (4623), Highgate, Greater London, England Dec 18, 2007 A Mes rate: Gravicask at Pigs Ear.
Dark amber with a rather chunky consistency and a very thin white rim. Thickly sweet and very assertive aroma. More of the same in the flavour. The malt is so sweet it’s almost tart. Medicinal and rather harsh fruity notes. Generally not a particularly pleasant Barley Wine. KnutAlbert (2484), Oslo, Norway Dec 17, 2007 Cask at Pig’s Ear BF 2007.
Decent barley wine. Sweet, port-like, warming. But not outstanding.
