04.16.05 Brewtopia ’05 Pure golden color with creamy white head. Tip top tripel aromas are tropical, floral, melon. Very effy and lively. Flavors abruptly vegetal and grainy, seems young or raw, not to par with good Belgians or Allagash. Nice alcohol spice. A good tripel but seems like it was made in a hurry.

Pours a clear gold. Nose is of doughy yeast.Taste is sweet and yeasty and that dough shines through quite a bit here too. That is the main feature here - dough. It reminds me of when my mother cooked bread or pizza and I tried the dough and thought...hmmm...that aint too tasty. I guess at the time I wanted something sweeter, like cookie dough. But for now this kind of dough is just fine. Feel is slick on the liquid and low on the bubble. Overall a pretty good experience here. Not the greatest tripel ever as I feel the dough is a bit too much for me personally, though it doesn’t ruin it by any means.

Tap at the Empire State location. Lightly hazy pale golden beer. Aroma is very estery, peach, overripe apricot and light apple. Honey sweetness and some higher alcohol dirtiness that becomes more apparent as the beer warms. The flavour is sweet and full of fat juicy apricot flavour. A hint of spice, but it leans more toward the honey and fruity side of the equation. Overly sweet and gets cloying as the beer warms up. Chewy and honeyed sweetness. Thick texture. Not a great example and the fruitiness gets terribly overwhelming. Meh.

Tap. Small head, fruity aroma. Well balanced. Nice offering. The Seasonal Offerings here are not the norm for a "chain".

Nice golder color, not too transparent and topped with a solid white head. Rubber factory and alcohol on the aroma, hardcore. banana’s nuts, and nut bread and rasions and fruitcake in the body. pretty damn decent for a chain, respect.

Cloudy straw yellow, with a fading head. Aroma is estery, grassy, perfumey, and slightly fruity. Flavors of yeast, sweet malt, phenolics and fruity esters. Noticed a bit of fusels as well. Moderate amount of spice from the yeast or additional spicing as well. Somewhat smooth finish.

Draft at Empire State building location... Clear, yellow ale with a creamy, white head. Good retention. Pleasant, fruity aroma that I can’t quite place... maybe some pear and almond liquer. Reminiscent of the aroma in any Italian pastry shop on Mulberry Street, NYC. Well-balanced flavor. Lightly sweet and breadsy. Nutty, spicy and fruity. Well-hidden alcohol. Medium-bodied and creamy with lively carbonation. Good stuff.
