1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 Spiesy (2336) - Sydney, Greater London, AUSTRALIA - JAN 7, 2004
Draught, at the Heartland Brewery, Union Square, NY.</br> Golden (paler than the light) with a medium, fine head. Slight better then the lite but only just. Larger with a twist of citrus, orange & lemon, which isn’t becoming.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 ClarkVV (3578) - Allston, Massachusetts, USA - JAN 1, 2004
Pretty good lager, clean and slightly peachy on the finish. Aroma is mildly hopped, not very strong. Dark yellow, light bodied. Fairly sweet but not much in the way of sourness/zing to it that I'd like from a lager.
2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 SETANTA (582) - Bangor, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 31, 2003
Not bad, but I'm not sure why anyone would go to the trouble of brewing a "high end" version of panther piss
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 austinpowers (2827) - New York, New York, USA - OCT 7, 2003
Terrific aroma. Very crisp beer with some dryness and considerable hoppiness. Not sure if I can detect the "flaked maize" or if I'd advertize that ingredient. Reminds me of a European Amstel Lager due to its bitterness.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 jskendzel (602) - Washington DC, USA - JUL 8, 2003
Definitely can taste the corn notes in this beer. Quite smooth, however, moderately carbonated.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Nuffield (3090) - Roseville, Minnesota, USA - JUN 3, 2003
An inauspicious start to my time at the Heartland Brewery. Can you say "middle America" in the heart of NYC? Minimizes the unpleasantries, with no horrific aftertaste and not overcarbonated for a brewpub lager, but it doesn't do much else. (on tap, Heartland Brewery, Union Square West, NYC)
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 MilkmanDan (1943) - Eagan, Minnesota, USA - MAR 31, 2003
Like a bad pun, just way the hell too corny. Yeah, I could actually review it, but it tastes like a corn-infested lager, so I'll just put this sentence on to pad it out to 75 characters.
1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 pivo (2540) - GERMANY - DEC 5, 2002
It’s hard to believe that this brewer has a top 50 beer at ratebeer.com after drinking this. Sour nose, buttery tastes and bad balance.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20 YogiBeera (2436) - Hamburg, GERMANY - DEC 4, 2002
Corn nose. Golden with a little diminishing head, leaving brussels lace. Bitter, but medium taste, also corn and grain. Medium bitter finish.
2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Aurelius (3147) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - OCT 29, 2002
Sweet with peanutty-vegetable character. Starchy. Well-hopped with long bitter finish.
