I really enjoyed the Heartland Empire State Premium. I think it is one of the best beers made by Heartland and would order again. Hazy yellow color with a light but intriguing aroma. The bitter hops are nicely balanced with sweet malts leading to a nice clean finish.

| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Dec 18, 2009 Tap at union sq. Pours a clean yellow/gold color. Arouma is mostly corn with some fruit notes. Taste of butterscotch malts & bread. A bit dry and, I think, too much corn in this one. Bierkrug (320), Idar-Oberstein (now in Pakistan), Germany

Palate is as the taste is light. This is the typical American Ice Cream flavored brewery stuff. A good beer. Best one I had here. blipp (1772), Newark, New Jersey, USA

| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Aug 26, 2009 a bit weak, muted and dirty tasting i did not find this one to be impressive. it also was a bit light in body and therefore unremarkable.the spice was a distraction and seemed to me to be a coverup or some failed enhancement. perhaps the Empire State deserves better. ladnewton (249), London, Greater London, England

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jun 12, 2009 Even thought his is a premium lager, I still smell and taste corn adjuncts in it. The aroma is malty, fruity, corn. The appearance is true to the style, gold, with a white head, strong carbonation. The flavor is malty, sweet, corn, some light fruit,. The finish is more sweet than bitter, but some hops evince themselves late in the game. thin/medium mouthfeel. Not bad.
