On tap. Pours with a deep brown body with some orange highlights. Lasting (possibly nitro?) tan head. Aromas are of coffee, nutty, bready, cocoa, espresso, earthy, dusty and perhaps a twist of orange peel. Flavors are bready, nutty, earthy cocoa. Very mild roast. Smooth. A bit watery though. Nice malt character, a touch of leather, medium to light bodied, creamy. Easy drinking.

Sample @ Heartland Times Square. Pours opaque with large foamy head even in the 4oz sample glass. Chocolate aroma; chocolate flavor. Quite drinkable, and very good, but maybe thinner than I expect from a stout.

Tap at Empire St. Building location. Pours a dark black with tan head. Some lacing. Roasty nose. Flavor of coffee and chocolate. Seemed relatively light-bodied. Smooth mouthfeel. 1st time Kara sampled a stout. She’ll stay with the IPA’s.

On tap at Union Square. Half pint of deep dark chocolate, with a light thin head. Aromas of coffee and chocolate with a rich velvety texture. Flavor is initially sweet like caramel on warm bread and finished with a coffee bitterness. Delicious!
