I wasn’t expecting much from this brewery, but this beer won me over. Pours a very deep brown. Taste is dark and delicious, coffee and chocolate notes mix together. Thick mouthfeel. Outstanding stout.

Enjoying this one at Empire State Building. Pour a dark brown colour with a great creamy off-white head with great retention and lacing. Beautiful roasty nose with soft nuts and butterscotch. Creamy mouthfeel with a little bitterness and dryness in the finish. Flavours are mild but still delicious. Coffee, roasted malts and a little sourness. Really love the smell, wish the taste was a bit more powerful.

On tap at the South Side location. Pours thin but very dark, essentially black, with creamy beige head. Mild aroma of wet coffee grounds and pine needles. Moderate to moderately light earthy and coffee grains flavor. Subtle tang. Moderately creamy body. Minimal roastiness. I wish the balance went more toward roasted flavors and less toward bitter earthiness.

On tap. Pours with a deep brown body with some orange highlights. Lasting (possibly nitro?) tan head. Aromas are of coffee, nutty, bready, cocoa, espresso, earthy, dusty and perhaps a twist of orange peel. Flavors are bready, nutty, earthy cocoa. Very mild roast. Smooth. A bit watery though. Nice malt character, a touch of leather, medium to light bodied, creamy. Easy drinking.

On tap at the midtown location. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, stale coffee, sweet malt. Flavor is roasted, bitter, and chalky. Smooth palate. Decent oatmeal stout, nothing I’m writing home about. 7/4/6/3/13 (3.3/5)
