4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
One of my favourite beers. I tasted brew-2013, it was really bitter and strong beer with grass in taste

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Drought. Amber red color, off-white small whitish head, strong resin aroma, sharp hoppy taste, long finish. Unbelievably smooth for a barley wine.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draught @ Times Square location: this one pours a clear amber color. There was about 1 finger of an off white head that left a bit of lacing. It has a pretty good nose. A fair amount of citrus/grapefruit hops are on top. Sweet malts in the background. Definitely a hoppy bite to the tatste. The malt sweetness is fairly well masked. Decent body to it. Not bad!

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap. Pours with a mildly hazed copper hued body with a stray, fading, off-white head. Aromas are of alcohol, burnt caramel, toffee, sticky, overripe fruits, orange, marmalade, and a bit of herbal, nearly minty (hop?) notes (northern brewer?). Flavors are of caramel, herbal, sweet toffee. Super malty. Very long duration. Orange, ripe fruit, sweet, estery, alcoholic. Syrupy on the mouthfeel, with medium bubbles. Warming. Big body on this one.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap at ESB brewpub. Pours dark gold/copper with tiny off-white head. Aroma is very much dominated by piney hops. I actually thought I was served the IPA by accident (but confirmed with bartender that this was correct). Flavor is same, with some toffee and rich malt notes. Finishes moderately bitter. Overall, not bad but pretty unusual for the style.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Orange with a reddish tint... Aroma is citrus, malts, notes of toffee... Flavor is slightly citrus, malts, kind of nutty finish... Light body... Tastes more like a red than a barleywine... Alcohol content not prevalent and really not as sweet as your traditional barleywine... Still enjoyable

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a hazy amber, thick lacing, little head, Alcohol sticks to the glass. Aroma is complex featuring a lot of toffee, pine, peaches, apple, nutty. Flavor is a mix of toffee, raisin, and granola bar. Mouthfeel is thick, but not syrupy, with the active carboation acting as a soft palate cleanser. Finishes long and chewy with resiny hops taking front stage in the fade.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Location: On tap at the Brewery - Union Square, 3/23/10
Aroma: It has a nose of citrus, pine, and toffee, nice American hop feel
Appearance: It pours a hazy caramel color, thin white head, lots of lace
Flavor: The taste is medium sweet (toffee), and light-medium bitter
Palate: Medium-full bodied beer with a decent mouthfeel
This is a nice American style Barleywine. It has a very nice hop-feel to it, and is really pretty good overall. A surprisingly good beer from Heartland.
