wnhay (722), Princeton, New Jersey, USA Sep 22, 2006 Pours copper with a thick off white head. Aroma was malty with hints of orange, citrus, graitfruit, pine and caramel. The graitfruit was over hinted in the aroma and taste. Pretty average for a Double IPA. Of course I am being picky because I love this style.
drfabulous (803), Columbia, Missouri, USA Oct 13, 2007 On tap in the city. Drinkable IPA that doesn’t go beyond the basics. Nothing special. But there aren’t other brewpubs in the area. JoeMcPhee (3899), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Oct 17, 2006 Tap at the Empire State location. Pale golden/crystal clear with a sticky white head. Aroma of fruity orange and mango with a touch of pine as well. Lean, clean pale malt with a light bready accent. Flavour is nicely hoppy, more IPA than double but it shows orange citrus, pine and a light resinousness. As it warms a bright spicy flavour comes through on the finish. Not a big massively hopped IIPA, but it’s still a nice pint. scraff (1703), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Sep 26, 2006 7.7% on this one. Deeply hazed rust, light tan creamy head. Nose held notes of pine and citrus, hints of florals, and just a touch of sweet caramel malt. Soft bitter flavors throughout with lighter shades of nutty earth. Light to medium bodied, soft carbonation, soft bitter finish. More like a Light Imperial IPA in my book... HighlanderOne (467), Somewherein, New Jersey, USA Sep 19, 2006 Pint glass at 51st and 6th ave. Couldnt really piick up any aroma (probably my allergies). Nice, copper color with fine head. I was expecting monster hops, and while this has a dominant hop presence, it wasn’t overwhelming. Very creamy feel to it - the malt backs it up nicely. Noticed hints of nut and vanilla. Lacing follows the beer down. Hop flavor intensifies as you drink. Alcohol also more noticeable too toward the end. A good beer, not sure how it holds up to other Imperial IPAs.
