COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A deep tawny golden color with a rich balance of malt and hops in the nose. Full malt sweetness is offset by the rich citrus overtones from the hops.

Draught at Radio City. Clear golden with a white head. Aroma heavy malty, caramel, spicy notes of licorice, star anise. Flavor heavy sweet and spicy, light bitter, in a god balance. Almost full body. Exciting.

Pours amber/copper with a thin tan head. Smells earthy and toasty with some sagey elements. Tastes grassy and caramelly with a sweet caramel finish.

Draft. Pours amber with an off white head. Bready sweet malty aroma with light noble hoppy notes. The flavor is bready and malty sweet, with just a hint of diacetyl, toffee, and light grassy hops. Decent.

On tap @ Heartland, Empire State Building:
Copper to amber colour, OK head. Sweet and malty caramel aroma. Sweet and malty caramel flavour with notes of dark berries. A touch too boozy but still pretty drinkable.

The appearance is a deep red amber color, lots of white foam. The aroma is bread like and toasted malts. The flavor is caramel, some brown sugar, and astringent hops, more than I had expected. The finish segued into purely hops, leaving an astringent burning on the palate. Medium thickness, oily mouthfeel. Easy to drink. A little more hoppy than I expected.

Sampler HB 51st. NYC. Nice pour. Clear amber citrus malty. Very smooth. I liked this beer.

boto (1850) - Granby, Connecticut, USA - NOV 24, 2007
Draught @ Times Square location: This one pours a rather lighter color than expected. It is a clear golden color with an off-white head. It leaves some lacing. It has a sweet, malty aroma with some floral notes. The taste is somewhat sweet. Faint citrus and maybe a hint of butteriness. Good, but it could be better.

Dickinsonbeer (5077) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - MAY 7, 2006
Empire state building. This is a pretty good maibock overall but has some slight flaws. Pours a nice deep golden- light copper with a thin head. Aroma is slightly estery and fruity with slight apple juice, sticky sweet malts, and lightly bready. Flavor has only a slight sharp malt characteristic and despite its high abv, the body is weaker than most great Maibocks. Lacks that sharp full bodied malty sweetness. Finishes a bit fruity as well. Pretty smooth and easy drinking though.

Only the 51st percentile? That is surprising. Nose was not real strong had some honey, citrus and caramel malts in it. Not real complex. Taste was really nice with the citrus and honey working quite well together. I like honey in my Maibocks and I certainly got that here. I would love to have this again.

Pale golden colour. Light honey aroma, candy, sweet malts and noble hops with a cleanish aroma. Sweet malty flavour with a touch of alcohol bite. Nice hoppy flavour balances the finish out. Some citrusy hops in here as well as the light earthy spice. They match with the style surprisingly well.
