tgncc (340), Bellmore, New York, USA Aug 26, 2008 Updated: Oct 4, 2008 Beautiful aroma of piney and citrusy hops. The appearance is very attractive, an orange/red white a white head, hazy in color. The taste is very hoppy of course, with a dominating citrus flavor, but the flavor had a very sweet and fruity quality as well. The palate left a nice hoppy impression. Excellent beer overall. A great IIPA in its own right, and definitely one of the best from Heartland.
Glouglouburp (2113), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Aug 21, 2008 In short: A highly sugary hoppy beer. Uninteresting.
How: Tap at brewpub (Empire State Building location)
The look: Cloudy dirty orange topped by a small off-white head
In long: Uninteresting sugary malt profile, way too much residual sugar and not enough rich caramel, I’d even go as far as to say that this 8.4% sugary beer was a little watery. The sugary thin body provides no place for the alcohol to hide and it is therefore rather apparent. Hops profile brings coniferous notes and apricots but they don’t blend well with the thin sugary body, nothing would really. This pub is located under the Empire State Building and let me tell you that I’m happy the physical pub is more solid than their beers otherwise the Empire State Building would look like the Tower of Pisa. JoeMcPhee (3899), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Aug 7, 2008 Tap at the Empire State location. All I can say is "wow!". Hazy/cloudy orange beer with a thin white head. Very aromatic bright hoppy nose. Loaded with orange peel, tangerine, mango/papaya over a lightly sweet pale malt backbone. Softly sweet light crystal malt that accents the sweet fruity hops nicely. Comes across like a tropical fruit hop bomb. Fairly assertive bitterness with just a touch of light resinousness on the back. Bright citrusy hop flavour throughout with a light piny finish. Easily the best Heartland beer I’ve ever had and one worth seeking out. rugbydude05 (193), Kew Gardens, New York, USA Jul 30, 2008 Updated: Aug 3, 2008Very impressive beer- so much that they can only give you 10oz fo the 16oz price. Very hoppy aroma with strong citrus character in aroma and taste. Very strong alcohol taste and palate is rather bitter but enjoyable. Gotta try this one again sometime soon. BREWMUSKCLES (818), WEEHAWKEN, New Jersey, USA Jul 21, 2008 extra hopped ipa enjoyed at the heartland brewery, empire state building. impressive malt and hop flavors in full measure this beer is serious refreshment. almost creamy and golden orange the menu says %8.4 but the alcohol profile is hidden behind fine citrus flavors of grapefruit and tangerine. hearty and piney in flavor and nose. a wonderful aroma that alerts you to an enjoyable experience. wonderful sting in palate. t
