jcwattsrugger (3757), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Apr 13, 2008 07 Old Red Nose Holiday Ale-750ml bottle-pours a light brown head with bubbles and hazy red/brown color. Aroma is sweet medium/dark malt-brown sugar, nutty, dark fruit-plum/orange, some spice. Taste is not quite up to aroma, a bit too much going on, but an OK taste. Mild/minimum carbonation. Thanks to jwc215(BA) for sharing.
DubC5000 (135), San Diego, California, USA Dec 27, 2007 I believe served as part of the Voyage series. Deep mahogany in color with notes of heavy malt, sweet hops, and spices in the aroma, a surprisingly refreshing brew from such a heavy mouthfeel. Lots of malts, with intermittent waves of hop coming through, and not much else. Very warming. BREWMUSKCLES (731), WEEHAWKEN, New Jersey, USA Nov 23, 2007 a good Christmas brew. flavor of orange with ginger. moderately appealing and sweetish with an ok malt character in the whole presentation. a bit ridden with appropriate christmas spicing. good malt flavor does come through all that xmas wrapping. as a regular beer of course this would score lower.but as it is...good! body is good as well as mouthfeel. LilKem (1169), Marietta, Ohio, USA Mar 30, 2007 a little bit spiced with nutmeg and cinamon, with some figs and raisin with a little biscuit malt and some roasted malt hangin out in the background. blatantdream (78), New York, New York, USA Mar 24, 2007 Pretty average beer on tap at Heartland Brewery because it is a blended version of the Red Nose. Tastes a bit spiced but nothing really stands out. Light and easy to drink.
My rating will reflect the true Red Nose unblended:
Red Nose unblended in cask at Blind Tiger Ale House. Pours a deep reddish brown perfectly cellar temperature with little lacing and no head. Tastes of sweet dark fruits and heavily spiced with nutmeg, cinnamon, candied ginger and citrus. It is a bit sweet but the aging rounds out the flavors and the hint of alcohol at the end actually works well in this beer.
