Tap at Union Square. Pours a light rusty color, fantastic aroma of spices and pumpkin. Taste is mildly bitter, sweet and spicy. Fuller body than the rest of the heartland brews. Average palate, no aftertaste.

On tap at Empire State Building. Orange color. Sure there is fruitiness, but they have also used the whole spice rack, which is too much for me. I will never be a strong pumpkin ale fan!

On tap at the Union Square location Heartland Smiling Pumpkin Ale is a clear orange color with a small, orange-tinted head. The aroma is light and non-descript while the flavor is also lacking in character.

On tap at brew pub. Outside on a nice evening any decent beer is refreshing. Even if it is a style you are not fond of. The lack of flavor might actually be a plus for this beer making it very drinkable.

On tap at the Union Square location on 9/15/07: Clear orange bronze with a thin ring of wispy-lacing white head. Aroma of pumpkin cinnamon spice and butterscotch. Body has a decent balance of toasty malt and pumpkin spice but has too much diacetyl character.

Looked almost exactly like the Octoberfest, a nice orange. Good pumpkin spice aroma. Very strong pumpkin spice taste. Highly recommended if you are a fan of pumpkin pie.

POurs deep copper/amber with a thin head. Notes of dense pumpkin and cloves. The palate boasts the clove more heavily than the other pieces of the pie. A finish with deep malt that lingers.
